Hi all

Here`s my motor. Only had it a short while so don`t know everything about it.

Been looking at Snow Performance stage 2 dual carb water / meth roots blower injection kit .... anyone use it on a similar build ? any good ? what results did you see ?

Here`s what I know

360
8.5 to 1 c.r.
4027596 heads
2 x 4 bbl 600 cfm carbs on 1" spacers
6 psi blower pressure
6.5 psi fuel pressure on 114 octane leaded

This set up ran 11.3366 on fairly mild shakedown run in 2600 lbs Valiant. Pulled heads after to see there was no detonation. Recutting all valve seats, home porting intake and blower transformation plate together with new gaskets all round.

Thanks in advance

I wish I could give you some empirical experience but remember when Hot Rod magazine installed this same kit on a centrifigal supercharger on their land speed car and found 50 hp. This engine was putting out over 900hp IIRC. Think of it as a chemical intercooler.

If it were me, I would do it.

Well, all I know is that the guys running alky/water injection on the turbo dodge 4 cyl seem to like it. Like ramcharger said, it's like a "chemical intercooler". I hear that it really makes a difference in the smaller engines so I say go for it! Could always use a little more "pop"

Thanks guys

Have just ordered it

Spoke to Snow and although I`m already using high octane fuel this will have more of an effect as a coolant to increase the volumetric efficiency. They said an extra 50 hp on my set up but I am being conservative and think maybe 30 hp

Hopefully should be enough to ron a 10

All American stuff ( just has to travel a long way to get here )

Don't feel bad, it took four months to get a Conti header for my Ducati from Italy back in the day. I think they put on a raft and gave it shove.... :-D

Keep us updated and let us know how it works out for you.

I use the snow performance kit on my centrifugal setup when its really hot outside, other than that my air to air works fine. The only draw back that I have found is my carb is in an airbox and so the water/alky fills the box and gets on the carb body where the alky wreaks havoc on the aluminum carb.(corrosion) other than that I love the setup. I run 14-16lbs boost on a 9 to 1 motor with no timing retard.

very cool set up. i'm thinking that pure meth injection would work out better for you. it'll cool the blower better and stav off detonation too.

As far as cooling the blower better with pure meth I would argue against that point. In a 50/50 water/meth setup the water is the charge cooler and the meth is an octane booster which lowers combustion temps.
Waters high specific heat is what pulls so much temperature out of the air as it evaporates. There for I would tell you water/meth will cool the blower more since it isn't in the combustion chamber.

Just gotta say methanol cools way more than water. And is supposed to be about 100 octane but when that cooling effect (actually freezing effect) is added in the resistance to detonation skyrockets. And methanol is about 50%oxygen by weight. That just one reason it can be run so rich. 3.5-1 afr in supercharged applications.

Meth injection is great, I had a set up on my srt4 big turbo setup and it was nice. Did the 50/50 mix and also straight meth, had it set to spray at a certain psi. The mix was great, the straight meth you knew when it kicked on, still debating on running it on my current build in my 67 dart twin turbo. Still might, just know if you tune it to the meth injection make sure you don't run out you'll go way lean and burn a piston or two, I forgot once lol didn't make that mistake again, but this time I'll use it to just help and not tune the engine to it.

I have the stage 2 on mine. I originally had it on a single carb smaller supercharger and worked great. I have the same kitt under to 750 dp carbs on a 6-71 that's set up for full throttle before it comes on. I still haven't had my foot to the floor yet. And I have it on a 50/50 mix. But can change it up a bit as I can get methanol by the gallon jugs.

Did the car have to use a lift off hood to clear the air cleaner? I'm asking because mine sit pretty high an I've been putting off trying to make the hood fit. Mines a 68 dart. I had a guy tell me there wouldn't be much hood left after the larger hole is cut an the hood may bend in the middle unless it's supported better? I don't know I haven't come across many darts with blowers for me to look.

Guess it all depends on how high everything sits on the manifold. On a BB, where blower intakes are easy to come by, they're rather low profile. On my Duster I didn't have to use a lift-off and it all works fine but you'd definitely have to finish the opening and tie it into the under-hood structure that's removed - otherwise it would be weaker than I'd be comfortable with. I'm also using the same low tension hood springs I used with the fiberglass hood I ran prior to the blower.

Sweet, that is a big hole. Now I just have to make time and make it happen. Thanks.
