Waiting on new ladder bar brackets for the housing. Just got them ordered on Thursday as Chassis Engr phones and web site were down.....they said they were hacked...dam Russians...probably trying to find Hillary's email server again....lol

Ladder bar brackets for the dana 60 housing got here today and I need to get going on the 71 Duster. Next saturday I start on the swap out of the rear end and 360 for the 408...Plus I will need a new driveshaft....

Housing has been sitting on garage floor for 6 weeks now as I dick around with that 75
Duster....Wont get to work on this Duster until August 20, with the next race being Sept 7,,,,,
Not sure If I want to tackle this rear swap....it should go fast and I have done two all ready....
plus I am suppose to swap out the 360 for the 408.......
I need to confer with the driver.....LOL...

and again...battling that heat too...

Tony you are a workaholic to the core! haha

Ok...the swap has begun....removed the slicks...and removed wheel screws as these rim will not work with the narrowed Dana.

got the rear disc brakes off...removed steel braided brake lines...might need to lines since this housing is narrower...
got the driveshaft off....

need to take measurement before removing the old Mose Fab 875 housing...make sure the ladder bars go back on parallel
hope to have rear end welded back in by this weekend...and then move on to the coil over shocks..

ok...got the old 8 3/4 out yesterday.....got the dana 60 under the car....needs to be centered....i use plumb bob on string off the frame rails to center the rear...

current plumb bobs are on the ladder bars to ensure they go back in parallel...I will hang another set off the frame rail tomorrow to get everything lined up and then leveled up before I start welding...gotta get the pinion angle set also..

the car is currently leveled front to back and left to right.....the housing is not leveled as of yet..

dam thing is heavy....was like wrestling with a fat broad...

Got about half of it welded....welder and I were not getting along so I quit...

Need to get 1 x 1/8 inch flat steel...to reinforce the brackets..finish up welding in the morning ....

Then I still need to weld brackets for the coil over shocks...and have to put a new upper mount since the moser fab 875 had a brace and moved the shocks back a couple of inches....i should have never removed the 1st upper shock mounts as it would work with the Dana...can still see the old weld marks on the frame.....oh well..should have everything done by next weekend....

Ok...the housing and ladder bars are welded it.....Now I need to attack the coil over shock....and put the disc brakes back on.....

I got new rims ...15 x 10 with 3.5 inch BS to fit the narrow housing...

Had to order lower shock mount kit as nothing I have has the same bolt spacing on the lower bracket...amazing... should be here on tuesday,,,,coming from Summit out of sparks nv.

Started to prep the 408 to go in the Duster...poured oil in the engine....turned oil pump with speed handel....got 60 psi after I put the plug in the back of the motor...I oiled my foot.....had to swap out dipstick and tube.. going to adjust the valves tomorrow......got two weeks..

While waiting on parts...lower shock mounts....I decided to adjust the valves while the engine was on the stand....after tightening the shafts...and loosed up all the jam nuts...I remember I had previously adjusted them and then loosen the shafts....well.....i guess i was double checking them..

Ok...got the lower shock mounts on the rear...get the springs off the shocks....get the shocks set at 14 inchs...and put the upper mounts on the shock and see where they hit......I am guess the existing cross member is not going to work....but...

ok....everyone once in a while a blind squirrel finds a nut...LoL

Was concern whether the existing upper shock mount was going to be use able.... I had bought an adjustable shock mount from QA1, seems like they had the best quality....but a few dollars more....Got the shocks disassembled...no spring..,,then got the lower brackets on it...bolted it to the lower bracket that is welded on the housing..got the upper tabs on the top on the shock to see how it was going to fit.... I am using the front side of the upper mount...where the Moser Fab8 3/4 used the back side of the upper mount...what I am looking for whether the shock is going to be 90 degrees front to back on car....no problem with the 90 degree left to right....well..I get 85 degrees...5 degrees off...but livable if needed....

If I can find some mounting tabs that are shorter..then i think we are get closer to the 90.....search Summit...find some for 6.40 for a set of 4....ordered...they appear to be about an inch smaller...
But i had ordered a new upper shock support kit....just a 1 3/4 inch tube and mounting tabs with nuts and bolts.....well....lets see what is in the box...looking at the weld on tabs...I can see that they are certainly smaller which will close that angle...I was going out the door for home...NOPE...I gotta to know...

Take the other off tabs...put tabs on from mounting kit...slam the shock back up there at 14 inch ride height....slap digital level on it...get 90 degrees left to right....move level....Bingo I get 89.5 degrees...close enough for me.....fire the welder up tomorrow....

Coil over shocks installed.....

Need to pull axles out to get disc brake brackets on.....plus the brake lines...dismount old slicks and mount them on new rims...need driveshaft....

Got a 4 day weekend....hope to get most of this done this weekend.

had to pull axles out to get disc brake bracket on.....going to finish up brakes in morning....might need to order new brake lines...the old ones are going to be pretty long.....

My driveshaft will be done on Wednesday.....sure glad I got that orders...only problem my friend who worked there is gone...so I aint going to get a discount...ouch...

and need to get the slicks off the old rims on to the new rims....I think by Sunday I should have everything done....waiting for drive shaft.....

One problem from last race....fuel pressure gauge was showing zero....but the car was still running 10.80s.....so the pump is working need to see why the pressure gauge is showing zip...
