I don't think the FI will like the long duration of that cam, it should probably have more like 112 or 114 LSA for nitrous and FI.

If you already have the maincaps and girdle, using it won't hurt anything, and could help. I use aluminum caps on my engines, I think it's cheap insurance. S/F...Ken M

I am planning on a small shot, I really didn't care for it after I frost bit a motor awhile back but I figured just a little bit can't hurt lol. The Victor heads haven't been touched yet and what I'm Gathering from here that it's a much for my motor so I my just clean them up some. I will look into IMM and see what Brian thinks.As far as the girdle I was just nervous about the block breaking so I actually bought that first before the block lol, thanks for your input and experience, you guys already been there and done that so I live the info. Would it be better if I went to a little bigger bore to utilize that has a little better ?
I have built engines with the Victors, RPM and Trick Flow heads. If you are going to run untouched Victor heads you are wasting your money. It would almost be better to run an untouched Edelbrock RPM head. It is really hard to put too much cylinder head on a 500ci wedge and the Victors need a tremendous amount of work to make them even a good head. Andy has made some really good 470/400 builds with the OOTB Trick Flow heads and we have even made 750+ HP with a 451/400 on pump gas with well ported Edelbrock RPM heads.

I`d use the alum. caps and girdle if I already had them. I know a guy that built a 500" duster, (my ex partner was in on it ), he had to go to alum.caps, and back the throttle off to make his live, he backed it of to 9:60`s . I don't remember how many blocks he broke, even one of the aftermarket jobs ! Just make sure their set up right .-----jmo
I haven`t had my engine on a dyno , but the best three engine programs say 755 h.p. w/ my cam change /down from 761 . /// WHO REALLY KNOWS----

I bought the girdle kit some time back from someone so I will be using it. The only thing I didn't realize was the plate was 1/2 thick.My goal is to be around 700hp ( just trying to be realistic ) but really would like more and who doesn't lol

Nice Andy but money isn't really a huge deal and i already have everything I've listed above. Trick flow does make a awesome cylinder for about everything out there and I did look at them just didn't do enough research on them. I did called IMM Friday afternoon but they was busy so I will try again Monday and see what Brian might be able to do

Andy don't get me wrong I'm not rich in any means. Does the trick flow require the offset rockers like the victors ?
 
No, the Trick Flow 270 heads use a standard rocker so that saves you money on the rocker arms. Also, the TF 270 head uses a longer valve with a taller spring so you can run more lift. The Victor head has a short installed height. Talk to Brian and see what he says. If the Victor heads are unported and new in the box you might be better off selling them and buying the TF heads but see what Brian says. Do you have offset rockers already? If so then that is more money already spent so that will factor into the equation.

You can make what you have work but it is going to take some work by a good engine guy. The Trick Flow stuff pretty much bolts together right out of the box.

I drove a 13 to 1 Mopar smallblock on the street and to work for years. 422 inches, 1100 Dominator from Pro Systems, 273/ 280 700 lift roller than was 245 ish over the nose spring wise.
Summer months i drove it 15 miles round trip into town to work on “ known good” no rain days every day if weather allowed. Took it to lunch, car shows, raced it most weekends,( 9 sec car) you name it.
If you dont mind running appropriate fuel( i didnt care, Sunoco 110 i bought by the barrel and kept in my pole barn) carb is tuned, and have good tranny cooler, go for it. I ran an 8 inch 5400 flash convertor and loved cruising down the road at 3200 rpm or so with it at 50 mph or so, and occasionally blipping the throttle
What your talking about is extremely realistic.

Sure. Did a lot of 10.0 index racing on a .400 pro tree with in a points series, and no box bracket raced it.
Uncut, untubbed 70 Duster on 002/003 leafs. W5 deal.
New owner still races it.
Building something similar to go in my 69 Dart as we speak. Wont be as stout, probably 10.20-30 car. But it will log street miles too.

Not disputing Andy or IQ52 at all, I would use the trickflow heads if I had to buy a set. I have fully cnc`d (standard port) alum. victor knock offs that flow the same at .600 as the stated max wedge trickflows do. So far so good----------
But they do require offset intake rockers, and special length pushrods. We changed the retainers and keepers also/springs checked good.
In a 68 barracuda body, they are kind of a pain in the a--, absolutely no room for "any" heater motor in the firewall. An aftermarket , under dash will work for heat and defrost only, and be lighter too.

My stud girdle was 1/2' also, I had it cut down to .300, wish I `d went to 1/4'' just for the weight.

400 block is stronger than a 440 block------- Thetre are 4-5 guys on here that really know their ---- not me, I read everything they post!

Nope for me, I used to own mopars back in the late 80s. Bought my 70 R/T Challenger for $3200 and a few others. Got out of it do to moving all over the country, not in the service just a party animal lol. Can't believe how much these cars went up in price so I went to Chevy powered Ford's but I'm back again

Not much to update but I did change Direction. For those people that know me it's no surprise . So bottom end is still the same, 400/499 but I did get the tf270 and now going to a solid lift and still planning on spraying a little. My question is what rockers ( t&d and jessle are sweet ) but any other good chooses?
Also here is a cam I'm looking at

Went to the dragstrip last weekend, first time on track in 10 yrs., driving sucked, car had no front end lift w/ a magnum force front end, tires way too small, bad combination.
Even backfired thru the throttle body once !

Sorry to hear that. Any idea what happened ? As far as the cam that I'm looking at, just looking . Haven't called any cam guys yet just kinda tossing it out there
