i have 4 340’s or blocks in my possession. Maybe these match your car:

1. Cast date 5/31/72. 3C266933. Bare block. .060 over and gouged.
2. Cast date: 1/6/70. 0B246071
FW340 P31050168. Bare block

3. Cast date: 6/1/72. 3B137370. Short block.
4. Cast date: 1/21/71. 2B112925.
Complete motor (destined for my 70 Duster).

I’m not looking to sell, unless it matches your car VIN. I would sell #1 block but it’s really only good for a table or door stop.

2. Cast date: 1/6/70. 0B246071 FW340 P31050168. Bare block

From a 1970 Duster (new one to me) so the full VIN of the car it came from is VS29H0B246071

I recorded it in the 1970 Hamtramck Registry database so I know to have the owner of the car contact you if I hear from him.

@Alaskan_TA, how do I send you a PM with the info' from this greasy '71 340cid/TF727 combo' I'm planning on listing? Carb'-to-pan-to-distributor, J heads, etc.

I never see PMs here. You can contact me via email using the contact button on any of my websites though.

Can always sleeve it. Would be worth it if it's "your" matching block.

Not sure I’d sleeve all eight!!
PAW sold 'back to STD' 340 blocks with 8 sleeves...I should have bought one. Someone bust out an old PAW catalog and scan that page! I sold a 340 block with a windowed cylinder for $40, I think I came out pretty good considering the cost of a sleeve nowadays.

Ah, right on, I’ll see if I can find one of the sites. I had to doublecheck to confirm it, but this block is cast the exact same as one of the aforementioned four, dated 1*21*71. Kinda’ neat

What are the odds?????

The odds are quite good actually.

As one example, over 5000 T/A blocks were cast for the AARs & T/As. Most of them show one of two casting dates.

It is very possible the cast date is the date the mold was prepared and ready for use VS. an actual casting day for each particular block.

If you can can share the actual engine assembly day for the engine assembly on the front of the block for both of these that would be cool.
