So I'm going from a 318 turbocharged to a gen III 5.7 hemi out of a 2012 ram 2500. I'm in the process of getting the parts together and the pan and oil pick up came in. But call me crazy but the oil pick up just doesn't look right.

Yes but I think I figured out the issue. The issue is dont drink and order parts the pick up is for 03 to 08 and mines a 12.

Make sure you put the stock windage tray back in with a little permatex around the corners. I used the moroso center pan 31000 and their pickup tube. Only problem I had was an oil dip stick I then drivers Side it doesn't line up well al all. And hits the windage Tray. Argh

And yes I think attaches to the main. Crank em down tight

yeah I noticed that aslo

What car is this going in and what crossmember are you using? In many cases, you would use a rear sump pan. If that's the case, that pickup, or anything similar would not work. Major difference. Actually, that pickup you have doesn't even look like it would be for an early truck engine at all, again, because they have a rear sump pan.

Hey..... I've got one of those "drinking" pickup tubes as well. I ordered the early pickup on my first go around and I still have it. I thought about putting an early 5.7 in my 70 Charger just so i could use that pickup tube. LOL

Seems like everything fits on the engine except for the dip stick, it fits but hits part of the pan when it goes in but it does go in.

So getting the engine ready to drop in the car. Ran into a few snags the TPS sensor plug wont go in the TPS sensor due to the alternator mounting point being there. What is dodge thinking didnt they assume people would be putting these engines in 50 year old cars. And I'm removing the power steering from the engine does anyone make a pulley for a replacement.

I am also using a 2012 truck engine I was planning to use the stock intake and throttle body witch clears the alternator bracket. I see you are using the edelbrock intake and cable throttle body. I was wondering what computer system you were going with . As for the belt drive I was looking into the 16 and newer rams have electric power steering and possibly an ac delete pulley if one is available

I'm going with the mega squirt gold box and harness.

I'm assuming a timing cover from another hemi from 09+ will fit.

Being a 2500 engine does it still have displacement on demand and variable cam timing? If so are doing a cam swap, my 2012 1500 had a wiped cam so a cam and lifter change was a given so I went with a 392 manual transmission cam. I would be interested in hearing about your project.

It has the vvt but not the mds. I'm not sure where the build will end up either forced induction or n/a with head works and a different cam.

Made some head way today. Got the motor and trans in the car. Got the driveshaft put back in and the mega squirt wiring through the firewall and ran to the sensors on the engine.

Hopefully fixed the alternator issue. Had to make a bracket and move the alternator to a different spot. Let me know if you see any issue with this.
