How would I go about repairing the below? All advice and recommendations appreciated.

This is the rear suspension. The right mount is fine. The left one has the bolt broken off.

get another bolt. bolts thru shock brace and back of trunk floor pan. pm me I got them.

You can replace them... There's a nut on the back that you can take off from the inside as ch1ll has stated and Mancini has new replacement ones if you can't find a good used one...

Mancini Racing Lower Rear Shock Stud
Honestly what? replace both... metallurgy does have cycling and fatigue failures....
And is the O.P running S.S .springs ?

Thanks guys. I will PM about the replacement bolts. The rubber isolator in that shock is tore up too. So it would need to be replaced because as it is, it might accelerate the stress on the new bolt.

And no, i don't care AT ALL about the air shocks. It's just what the car came with. The front end rides like a dream. The rear rides like an ole hay wagon. And the air shocks slowly bleed pressure off.

I have zero experience with with shocks ... how do I know the right shocks to choose? I'm guessing it would have to do with the static ride height and the distance between the shock mounts when parked.

Help a brother out. Which is what you guys are doing already, and appreciated.

You could get some cheap KYB’s for now and when you decide how the car will be used, get better shocks.

I only want to do it once. It will be a street car with some pulls down the strip.

Then get some double adjustable QA1’s, Vikings or Bilsteins.

5.7 hemi - I'm going to follow your original advice. I'm going to try the cheapie KYB's out. Lots of good reviews on them, even one for a Scamp like mine. My car is rather tame compared to most of you guys cars on here. ~245 rwhp, maybe 300 or so crank hp. And I bet the KYB's will be better than the crapola air shocks that are on it now.

Abodybomber asked if I have SS springs. I do not know. But I'm assuming the car has the original leaf springs.

Cool. Let us know how you like them after you’ve gone a few miles.

Guys, turns out the broken shock stud wasn't broken. Only the stud nut came off and allowed the shock to work its way off the stud. I couldn't tell that until removing both studs. The studs are otherwise in good shape.

The nut that was in place, it easily threads onto the other stud that I thought was broken … so no thread damage.

So, now all I need is the nut for the stud … or a nut and a big ole washer. Should I just buy a nut and washer from yee ole local hardware store?

Yup, they 1/2” fine thread.

I didn't know this repair was going to be such a pain in the hip (pocket) and break the bank.

Last night I couldn't find a regular nut, 1/2"-20 tpi. They were all course (13 tpi) at Home Depot. Except, I found one dang castle nut 1/2"-20. It fit the studs real nice (I brought in the studs for fastener fitment).

The castle nut was $1.75 after tax. But the shocks …

After taxes the shocks were $74.41. Minus $15 summit bucks. Minus, there's a $40 KYB rebate going on through 9/30. So, $74.41 - $15 - $40 = $19.41.

Plus the castle nut and my total is $21.16. Talk about breaking the bank! (I jest of course).

I'm gonna make a run down to McDonough tonight and pick up the shocks. And will install tonight … if I'm not too tard.

I wish all repairs would go this way! :D
