Hi all I have a 1965 signet with a 273 commando 4 speed that I have been restoring for years down under in Australia
We are going as close to concourse as possible
I am after both front and rear bumper bars
I have seen some on eBay and was wondering has anyone here used them and what the quality is like , I am after show quality
the seller on eBay goes by cuda_mike (1307) sorry I couldn't attach photo of eBay site I'm **** at computer stuff
Or dose anyone else know of a supplier with show quality bumper bars
Thanks heaps Matthew Wood

I been looking for some drivers myself. Not as common as one would think...

The Ebayer did not have any listed.

I had a set of NOS guards listed quite awhile ago but can’t remember if they were F or R. I “think” I still have them!

Would you be talking about the bumper guards?
The terminology that we use for things over here in Australia might be a little different
I ment the bumper (the long chrome thingy that goes the full width of the car) the 2 smaller parts are usually called over riders I have them and had them rechomed but probably won’t be good enough to go on the car
Thanks heaps Matthew Wood

We call things a bit different over here I ment the long chime thing
What do you call it

Here that's called the bumper

The 2 smaller parts are called bumper over riders over here
Thanks Matthew Wood

And called bumper guards here.

Why not send your bumper out to a chrome shop there in Australia? I sent my wagon's rear bumper and NOS guards to Tri City Plating here in the US and received everything back in show condition. I sent my NOS guards at the same time as they told me that although the guards were NOS, the chrome would not match the bumper. They were absolutely correct!

I had the rear one re chromed when I first started building the car (don't laugh but the newspaper rapping it up is dated January 1998) took a look at on Saturday and I don't think I would even put it on a daily driver
To get decent chrome work done I would have to send it to the other side of Australia and they are extremely expensive and the front bar has had a light hit 4 different shops have tried to get it right but it still isn't up to scratch
I have also had colour differences in chrome work I got the guards done at the same time and it is a path that I'm reluctant to go down but its 1 step at a time
Thanks heaps Matthew Wood

Differences in old and new chrome are often due to the EPA forced switch from hexavalent chromium to trivalent chromium. So even if you find NOS pieces, unless they are a complete set (bumper plus guards), they will appear different from recently rechromed parts. I have a very straight front bumper but it needs chrome. Shipping would be a killer. You can start a conversation with me if you'd like pics and to discuss price.

You can search "Bumper Boys" on the internet. they have a large inventory of older bumpers straightened, chromed and ready for shipment. I've seen their work and it looks good but can't speak to quality because looks can be decieving sometimes.

thanks heaps will check them out
its hard to get good chrome work done over here
thanks again Matthew Wood

Looking up another bumper part led me to Ebay seller cuda_mike who has the rechromed bumper your looking for. Price was not unreasonable given what I recently paid to have some rechromed.
