I can't watch that due to net speed. But I say, use the gasket with a smear of silicone along the width and a dab at each end. Works for me.

A long time ago, I used a Fel-Pro gasket set for my SBM. The set came with neoprene end gaskets. Just set in place and put the manifold down.
Recently, got a Fel-Pro set with the cork. The cork was so thick that the bolt holes would not line up. Not even close.
Laid a bead of RTV (1/4" in diameter) and let set until tack free. A little bit of fresh sealant at the end and put down the manifold. No leaks.

No cork, no end seals. RTV or other. All I've ever used is RTV

Same here. I tried the self glued end gaskets on a sbc one time just for the heck of it, it leaked, pulled the intake and used black RTV silicone, leak gone , have used it ever since.

I have never used the cork gasgets on the China rails. Only ultra rtv silicone.

I've never used the cork. Just a double stack of "the right stuff" (rtv).

I’ve only used right stuff but it sucks to get off. Was hoping there was a better way. I guess not leaking trumps easy removal.

As far as getting the manifold back off I always run an exacto knife through that double bead in the front and back.

We had success with the cork end gaskets with an RPM Performer intake. But nothing had been machined on the (Edelbrock RPM) heads and the block had just been lightly decked. It was a pretty tight squeeze.

Yeah baby.....! The corks are hard to compress while the foam ones are pretty good in my opinion. Remember to remove any dowels in the block before you crank down an intake. I cracked a 273/4 intake once doing this.

Rtv everytime on everything,it just works everytime, the corkgaskets are hit and miss depending on how the tolerances stack up.

If you take the tips of the bolts and put a 45 chamfer on the ends with a grinder, it makes getting it lined up easier. Itll sort of weasel in there and catch a thread to self align the intake. I like these guys, they blow myths like X vs Y pipes and gasket matching without having to sell the stuff like other personalities.

yes good. but what did they do and seal with back then. need answer. what ever it was it sealed. correct?

Took the intake off an original 1970 318 engine. (40 years ago.) The end seals were not leaking. I took it apart to look at the cam/lifters.
The end seals were a soft material, that was fairly stiff but, I could cut it easily. I'm guessing it was neoprene closed cell foam.

Is that what you are asking?

I doubt you can get that style gasket anymore. Could buy some neoprene strips and make your own.
