Post your Super Stock clones

Like I've said elsewhere, I can't build the real deal clone, but I'm happy with how mine is coming so far.

It's true, if you make a true clone, your running 4:88 gears with 1540 cfm carbs and a mech advance distributor running at full advance at 1,600 rpm, 12:5 compression pistons on race gas you are running at the edge of what's streetable. That what's I'm running, but I only driving it at the local cruise nights not too far from home. Nothing like hitting the throttle smoking the tires at ease. lol.

A clone is to look like something else.

You can’t see gear ratio, well-thought-out/realistic/reasonable cam specs, true pump gas compatible compression ratio, and cubic inches.

If you’re in a box, you can still think out of the box.

I run the Stock carbs and a stock dual point distributor. I do run 3:55 gears, 11 to 1 with ported Edelbrock/Mopar heads. It’s stroked to 472ci. My Dart was in Mopar Muscle magazine a couple months ago and there is a complete brake down of what I got into it. Don’t get me wrong, I do like what you have done, nice car for sure.

Here is the next one I’m doing. I’m trying to have “Book ends”. Slowly but surly it’s getting there.

Absolutely. I bet that´s a sweet ride. And with 3.55 in rear and 11 in comp I´m sure its comfortable to drive too.
Maybe we should invite the expression ALTERNATIVE CLONE, like some use alternative (read fake) news…
Anyhow car is nice, don´t get me wrong. And congrats to the article in MMM

Having trouble with clutch and trans but it's still a hoot!

I’m working on a Dart. A 68. It Started out as a big block Dart plan to use up spare parts, and a winter project to last several winters. Now it’s taking on the Superstock look. More and more, I’m being haunted by it needing a Hemi. Here’s where I’m at.

Bottom Is pretty much done.

Anybody know anything about the Hemi dart clone just listed...and removed from EBay? Wonder if it sold and for how much. Looked like a well detailed car.

Don't know anything about it, but if one was to build a true clone, I doubt they'd be truly happy with it. At about 8-9 dollars a gallon race fuel, cooling issues, stiff gears and no overdrive to compensate it'd get to be a bit much after awhile.
I built mine as something of a clone (see pics) and have been battling cooling issues since. Even Ron Davis (look him up) is kind of stumped as to how to get real reliable cooling with 800+ horses in such a small car, so like "Barracuda Dan" my trips are usually REAL short and sweet. Oh, I still enjoy & love the car but true cruiser, it ain't.....

Been making progress. Soon it will be time for primer.

IMG_0003.jpg

It's grey. Epoxy primered, evercoat extreme build and primer surfacer have all been applied.

Bottom expoxy primed and sanded.

Evercoat extreme build applied to body, blocked, and primer surfacer applied and blocked.

Needs a bit more primer surfacer in a few spots. Hoping to do some trimming out with B5 Blue Pearl Coat within a few days. While the front fender / door gap looks a touch wide, it's not, just the angle of the camera.

Will be nice to get this sanding dust over with!

Recent purchase needs some work to be right...motor, rear, and trans getting rebuilt before making needed changes to make it closer to an L023. Car came from NC then went to Texas. Anybody recognize the car?
