Well I did it! Bought the 1970 Dodge Dart 440, with blower, auto, 8 3/4 rear end. I will start driving it back to Colorado tomorrow. It runs great! That carb hat gets really hot, though, after running the motor for awhile! Burnt my arm slightly. Battle wound. Ha-Ha. At first I thought I would have a car hauler transport it home, but that's not as much fun as driving it, and costs more money! LOL. So heading to Vegas with it tomorrow! A few pics, coming soon.

Looks like it's going to be a fun ride, looks like it needs a intercooler !
Now where can we put it ?

will be interesting to see how the tune does as you get some altitude. you leaving out of los angeles area?

Yes, almost to Vegas now. Removed the blower belt and A.C. compressor. A.C. wasn't hooked up. It's running fine, but not as much torque. Easier to tune, though.

I just noticed he cut the top out of the core support, I think you really need that?

Well let me go look. Yea you're right! Never noticed it was gone until you mentioned the top radiator support being gone. Seems to be holding up fine. He must have done that for clearance issues.

I would fabricate a bracket that goes from one side of the core support to the other. It would probably be bolt in, so, I would use at least 2 bolts per side. maybe reinforce, or get an aftermarket lower core support brace. would require welding though.

I cut mine out and made it a bolt in piece, makes it so much easier to get the motor and trans out as a unit.

picked up around an inch of space between the water pump and the rad. nice

Ok, now it is all becoming clear. The blower belt drive pulley bolts onto the vibration dampener with 6 long bolts. They go thru the blower drive pulley, then a spacer, and then thru the bottom fan belt pulley and into the damper. So the blower belt is going to stick out aways. So now the radiator has to move forward a few inches, and sit in the middle of the front radiator support, or even in front of it. That's why the top framework has been cut off. Only had the car 2 days, and there are so many small things I've been fixing, I really haven't given it much thought. Thanks for pointing that out, guys. Only problem with this so far, is that my partner and I have both gotten minor burns while working on it when hot. We're not used to having the top of a hot radiator exposed like that. Normally there is a piece of metal covering it.

big beach towel. since your from colorado, you might call it a river towel

That sounds like fun, goodluck on the drive back. Give all the details when you get back home.
Well we stayed in Vegas for 3 days working on it in the motel parking lot, fixing alot of small stuff. LOL. The 4 fuel hoses coming off the side of the tank near the filler neck were all cut, aged, and spliced. They did a terrible job of that, so had to redo them. It had leaked gas all over the first time I filled it up, but OK now. Drove 500 miles today, Vegas to Grand Junction Co. Started missing between 80 and 90 MPH, so stopped at an O Reillys in Utah. Replaced the voltage regulator and Dist Cap. Now it cruises at 80+ with no probs. 250 miles to go!
