Anyone use the Milodon deep pan 31010 in the 73 A-body with a Big block? How far dose it hang down below the K member? Says it has a 7 3/4 deep sump. Ok for street?
 
Not a fan of the milodon pan. Mine leak from new. I had to cut my K frame. I understand I had to bang around on it to make the high volume oil pump fit. this was a small block 73 duster so I'm sure it was a different pan but still wasn't impressed. My headers go down further than the pan so that would be the first thing that hit.
 
I'd take a look at the milodon road race pan. That one you are looking at it pretty low.

Thanks R Dart, I already have it with bunch of other stuff I got with the project. I might mock everything up with it. The Road race pan looks nice but $$ is the object. The Hemi pan might be an option, got one on my B-body and am happy with it. Dont know if it will fit the A-body though. Sold one of the C-body pans with the notch last year not thinking I would ever need it. DOH!
 
When that pan you have makes friends with the ground and dumps all the oil under the car. Remember me. :)
 
Here is mine in a 71 Duster, QA1 K frame. Was sitting mighty low, going to bring the car up a bit before putting her on the road.

Wow... that wouldn't work on the roads around here! It'd have a hole within a mile.

I have the Milodon 30930 (is that the one in the pic?) and it sticks out a couple inches below the stock K-frame. Still makes me nervous, thinking of a skid plate...
 
To be honest I’m not sure of the # it came in pile of parts I bought a few years back. I’ll see if I can figure nd it when I get home tonight. All I do know is it fit the 440,K frame, holds 7qts and is certainly DEEP!

The one I have is the 31010, looking at the Milodon cataloge its 3/4 of an inch deeper than the 30930 that has kind of a kick out. Mine is a square sump. Its is a no go for Me.

lol , reminds me of the time back before I started being real serious w/ my first hemi. I lived a few blocks from a guy I worked with, while turning the corner in front of his house, I nailed the belvedere after I got it straightened up, the front end came up and when I let off of it , the deep pan I had made crashed the pavement, it was exactly 1 mile to the block from my mothers house ,"where my jack was", I shut the engine off and coasted all the way, even thru the 11th street traffic light , and around two corners, and stopped about 30 ft from her house. Oil streamed all the way , ran completely out before I got there. .
 
Set the front ride height up a little, throw a set of adjustable shocks on up front and turn up the compression.
 
You want the Milodon #31580 road race style pan. It holds 7 quarts and gives stock style clearance.
This fits B/RB and Gen II Hemis (just a different pickup for the Hemis). These pans clear stock and most
tubular K-frames as well as TTi headers. They have trap doors that keep the oil supply at the ready. HDK
uses a lot of these and I know that HemiDenny's silver Duster as well as the Hemi Demons of HemiMark
and 62BT409 are currently running them with great results.

I run this pan with my alterK and 440-200 headers.
 
Better be sitting down when you look at the price though... $448.95 at Summit and that doesn't even include the oil pickup!

I wonder if it will clear my Dart's 78030 B-body headers though. Will have to look (and start saving my pocket change)...

A 402 is slightly above my K bottom. Per the link below it's 4.6" deep. You'll likely be hanging out 2-3/4" - 3" IMO.

The 402 is a stock B-Body I think. The Hemi 6 qt pan is dirt cheap and I can hack on that if need be. Better than butchering the $250+ Milodon one I have. I am a bit out to start mocking this stuff up so all recipes you folks have are more than welcome. New to A-body BB conversions as you can probably tell. Awesome site and thanks.

Personally, I do not like center sump . No way the widened pan would fit with my headers anyway.
 
The road race pan is trap door baffled. t's a work of art.
 
OK so it does corners (which my Dart doesn't) ;)
Is it also baffled to keep the oil under the pickup when launching hard?
