quick info. 65 barracuda, 74 360 yet to build, I have a good set of J heads from my old 340. 727 transmission. giving all this to my little brother, all he wants is a cruiser and burnouts on demand. I think the biggest rear tire will be a 235/60/14. 8.25 rear with at most 3.55 gears, with a set of SS springs. any 360 build info would be great

Careful what you wish for!

Wth chocks and water on concrete and he still had trouble breaking traction!?! What made it explode that quick? I know wasnt the burnout or horsepower. Must have hit something maybe those tracks the chocks are connected to?

Old tire maybe, or just a bad tire, It was in 3rd gear and only the right tire was spinning so double the speed through the diff?

Idk that is nuts tho. Iv never seen one go that quick. I wonder if it had a bad bead and just came off the rim? No way it popped that quick.

First thing I got to say when I seen the title all I could think was "YOU RANG?!"
budget-wise I would sell those J heads to somebody who thought they were special and be half way to Edelbrock heads that would do something more than stock heads.

What's wrong with IMMENGINES.COM instead of the Eddy's? I don't see him going for > 9.5:1, the price is decent. :)

There is nothing to building a tire eating Mopar. I'd rather hook and yank the front tire. Saves money and gets more respect from brand x.

I don't know? I've liked rolling some hard smoke out of second gear from about 15 ta 40, but I really want to put the v-gate in for that hard third gear slam to keep the tires smoking....
Man it was a beautiful 70° sunny day here in Portland....
Wait a minute, what we talkin about?

its just my little brothers first mopar, he is not ready for all out fire breathing power yet, besides he needs to maybe work on one or fix one. very clumsy around tools, I think poorly trained one eyed space monkeys use tools for the first time better than he does. his budget is limited, he is on my budget so if I can get it all together minus paint on the car for under 3k I think he would be pleased, so j heads out and how about magnum heads, any input on cam. I do have a spare air gap intake to donate but that would only fit stock heads. I think the more free stuff I can donate and achieve the end product he can get his hands dirty and build the next one when he wants more, which we all want more

for a cam on the cheap and some good recommendations I always say to call Ken at Oregon cam grinding. $79 to have your old cam ground into whatever you want.

a complete 100% stock 360 long bock with a 4bbl and dual exhaust will eat those tires right off the rims. And, it would do it better if you had 2.76 gears in it. Get the tires whipping about 55 mph in 1st gear while your only doing about 5 mph, you'll get some smoke

SLAM! THE BIG DISAGREE BUTTON! LOL:poke:
2.76 gears won't do burn off's "at will"? Maybe one tire fire....
I consider "at will" to be rolling along at 30 or 35 and stomp it and ignite the tires up to about 90?
I don't think starting out with a foot slammed the floorboard on the break and pumping the gas in first gear "at will"...
:popcorn::D

well, now, I guess you took the OP differently than I did.

  • To the OP, did you intend for your brother to be doing 35 mph and nail it, burning both tires to 90 mph??? That's what J par thinks you want.... :D
  • I took it that he wants to "light 'em up at a stop sign, or the likes....

  • I'm sure his current car can burn them off at a light?
  • 2.76 gears for spirited driving?
  • How many people do you think would agree with that?
  • I learned how to use this little dot thing...

apparently, you've never had a car with highway gears whipping the tires ……. LOL
You don't have to go through 3 gears like your in the water box to get smoke. It's instant! He said a CRUISER and be able to do burnouts.
  • P.S. - never expected him to pull out the 3.55's LOL
AND...…………… AND...……….
do not take out your YR frustrations on me!! :D

no he is not ready to hold a car on the road at 30+ burning out. baby steps. stop sign burn outs is on his page or maybe leaving a parking lot and straighten and let the smoke fly. rolling burn out at most.

3.55 are free to him I have a set from a old 8.25 I don't need anymore so why not put them to use

I do have a spare 8.75 collecting dust not sure if I have any 2.76's laying around and I would like to keep that rear for my 66 dart.
