Removed the gas tank today, managed it without messing with removing the filler neck. Just put two jacks underneath, removed the strap, then slowly lowered. About halfway down I gave it a light leg press from the drivers side end and it dropped right off. Just lowered and removed at that point. Left a bit of gas in it for weight and I think that helped gravity do it's work. Pics...

Checked filler neck for damage and all looks good. Not having to remove it was a nice time saver. Pic of neck underneath...

Hello Troub
Looking good.
re-use the insulator that is on the top of the old tank if you can.
Put a little lube on the filler neck so the grommet slides on nice and sweet.
Keep us updated.
Happy Mopar :)

Easy removal, but I don't know about the other way! It would definitely be much easier to install the tank and then shove the filler neck into it.

Yeah I am wondering if it will go on as easy as it came off!

NOPE, DONE IT BOTH WAYS . NOT FUN AT 70 PLUS YRS OLD. Use plenty of lube on the gasket and tube . I was lucky and didn`t have a leak .
