Starting a BB Duster project

-
very nice....waiting for some time Slips.....:poke:

just kidding, i know this is not done within a week. Nice to see you make some Progress.

Michael

Not so sure I'll get any time slips this year. If I do, it will be late in the year. I have a lot of other projects that I'm working on so the Duster only gets a few hours a week of time.

I built a new battery box for my pint size battery.

Decided to put the engine in from below. Had the complete engine with headers and trans on a 3 point dolly which I wheeled under the car. Then lifted the engine and trans into place using the shop crane. Went very quickly, less than 30 minutes from having the engine and trans on the dolly to having it bolted into the car.

Do you sell those battery boxes ? and do they fit a 69 dart

I could sell them but I don't know what all they'll fit. It fits in this Duster so as long as your inner fenderwell area is close to the same then it should work.

Well the rear of the car is finished up and ready to go but I have a long ways to go on the front! Lots of wiring and plumbing to do yet as well as some fabrication of brackets and such.

345/55-15. They are 13.5 inches wide and 30 inches tall.

Yes I sell shock plates. Mancini Racing has them on their website if you want new ones. I put some used ones up for sale over on Moparts.

Andy, what was the reason for changing the lower shock mounts?

The double shear mount is easier to work with, it is stronger and I can put it in the correct location. I don't see any reason to use the factory stud type mount when I can build my own custom mount that puts the shock exactly where I want it.

Just reread this post, and noticed the engine leveler. That is the strangest one I ever saw, pretty neat.

Nice work, was the steering column shaft you installed the flaming river coupler , manual or power steering, mine has the adapter on the steering chuck for p/s to manual like 3.5 inches long , would like to clean it up like you did on your column, to tight with headers

I took the summer off from the Duster project so I could work on my Coronet. Now I'm back working on the Duster and getting it ready to go to the chassis shop next week for some interior tin work, a new roll bar and some various chassis work that I couldn't handle in my shop.

I did get the new Viper disc brake setup installed with the Baer rotors. I still need to buy wheels for the front but I think I've figured out what size to go with.

For some weird reason tires are labeled with both metric and english units. 345/55-15 means 345 mm wide, sidewall height is 55% of the section width and 15 inch rim. Seems odd to mix and match dimensions like that but that is how tires are done. I do think it is better than the old system which used letters. F78-14 never made any sense. At least the new system of 205/75-14 lets you know how big the tire is without looking it up on a chart.

On your website you show the back brackets that are welded to the spring pad on the bottom of the axle do you have the plates for the front at the front spring eye to make homemade caltracs.

No I don't make the front brackets. You can buy those from Calvert.
