Hi all, I currently have a 2176 Edelbrock Performer intake on my 66 273. I'm currently searching for a good LD4B intake. Before I waste a bunch of time can anyone tell me if there's enough hood clearance on a 66 Barracuda for a LD4B intake Or would any of you know the deck height of the intake?

Cant speak to 66 but my 67 273 has an LD4B with an Edelbrock AVS2 with a 3" aftermarket air cleaner and it all fits nicely with the stock hood.

Yup, they are out there but the real question is if the folks on here who have them are willing to sell. When I was ready to buy a LD4B intake, I searched threads and contacted peeps who indicated they had one or several. Turns out they didn’t want to sell them, which is their choice. I found one on e-bay shortly after for $140 including shipping. Prices seem to have increased but there are deals out there.

My son has a 65 Barracuda with a 318 and a LD4B intake... Hood fits fine...

thank-you.. Did you have any issues with the bolt holes? From what I understand the intake holes on a 65 are on a slightly different angel.

If your engine is a 66 or newer you will be good with a LD4B. The 64 and 65 273's have the smaller bolts and a odd angle and use the D4B intake.

If anyone is looking for a D4B, there's one on ebay. NOS still in original box.. $300.00

It's not the original engine in my son's Barracuda, someone transplanted an early 70 318 engine in it with the LD4B intake...

For the 64 - 65 bolt pattern, the sister to the Edelbrock LD4B is the D4B which is identical to the LD4B, but with the old intake bolt configuration...

You could always swap a set of 66 and later 273/318 heads on it to match the LD4B...

Or a quick cobble would be to drill the intake bolt holes a little larger to give clearance for the older style bolt pattern...

The cleaner way is with the 66 and later heads....
