I just came across a set of 5115 Hooker Super Comps that are listed to fit E-Body. Hooker lists 5116 for A-Bodies. Has anyone installed the E body header on an A body? What kind of conflict would I expect to run into? This is a 72 Demon 340 application with manual steering.
Thanks FABO

Hummmm, I have the E body headers on a shelf and there kind of wide IIRC. I could snap shots tomorrow for you to see mounted on a 318 and! Vs standard horror show headers that are my test mule engine run stand headers.

Oh! There also a 1-3/4 tube header....

Thanks Rumblefish. Never thought about the width being the difference but that would be a big issue trying to squeeze them between the fender wells. I havent come across a Hooker Header tech number to call for the spec.

I’ll take some pictures tomorrow if all stay well around here. It is more Of anT bar issue I would think.

Sorry for the delay....

The standard 1-5/8, 1 size fits all header. The brand doesn’t matter.

I think this is where the fitment issue comes in. Where normally the 3 tubes on the 1-5/8 header go in front and under everything, creating that large opening for the front end and drag link to go through is t really there on the 1-3/4 B/E body Super Comps.

That is one impressive demonstration! Since my original post, I did find another set of HSC but these are made for A-Body. I'll try adding a pic in few minutes but I think they are shaped more along the lines of the 5/8 set in your pics, but they are 3/4.

Thanks, I try and help my best.

Hard to say from a pic of a measuringtape but i would still say 1.875. I cant think of any other Abody smallblock header with its tubes routed like the ones shown except the disontinued Hooker #5303 and those where only made in 1 7/8" and are a multi piece adjustable header just like the one pictured, considering how ends can be deformed and the small tollerances we are looking at,try to measure with a calliper on a straight and round secton of the tubing. I may be wrong and one should never say never but i cant think of any other header than the 1 7/8" tubes from Hooker.

They are still bring shipped to me. Once they arrive I'll check with a caliper to verify what these are. I'm leaning towards them being 1-7/8" as well, which my engine may have to grow into.
