Condolences.

Mom and I had to put our Rocky down a few years ago due to kidney issues.
He also was a stray that found me.
He was in the middle of the road in a moderate rain storm.
I almost hit him and when I stopped and opened the door, he jumped in.
He was a Birman mix, looked like a long haired Siamese.

Please do not let the loss and sadness keep you from saving the life of another.

I just took a feral kitten to the low cost vet this morning.

The people that live next to the feral colony my wife and I help care for said it's front paw was "dead" and was being dragged.

Super sweet kitten. I hope we can help.

I am not a trainer by any means but when we got Henry back in March and he was pretty unruly when we left him alone..... I went and got a cage for him and when we weren't there he was in it. He doesn't like it so after about 2 months we revisited him being alone outside of the cage when left alone and took baby steps. We rewarded him with a smalll treat when we returned with no problems and he has only acted a fool' once since then....

Dogs are wicked smart so you need to find what "clicks" in their head that makes then understand right and wrong. Now he knows we are coming back to where he lives and it all comes down to instilling that trust with him..... Always work in progress...

All three are rescues. Leo from an old couple who "thought" they wanted him when he was a pup. Ziggy, we got from the SPCA, and Dale we got from the middle of the road.

Love them all.

This is our company dog Rocky. I believe it's a Aussie doodle or there abouts..... No matter what I am fixing or doing at work when he shows up for his morning treat there is a guaranteed work stoppage lol....

OK, here is "Shelby" the soon to be three legged friend that was given to me last week.

After two teary days and a trip to the low cost spay and neuter clinic, my wife and I came to the conclusion that our home was not "what's best for the cat".

We have several cats already and for some reason the three girls we have do not get along.
Patch, the new girl is the best but she growls at Pip, the 2 yr old girl, and Pip and Missy (the 16 pound 4 yr old) are almost always fighting or stalking each other if they are not able to avoid each other. The guys do not seem to have this problem.

We decided it was not in the best interest for Shelby (who we found out is a girl) to be in that environment seeing as how she is a tiny kitten and would be learning to be without an entire limb.

The Vet said $220 for the amputation. The Vet tech girl actually said that If we couldn't afford it, that she would take her. We discussed us giving it a try and if things didn't work out at our house...we knew how to find her.

We have a friend of the family that works with SPCA and she happened to have a littler of black and white kittens scheduled to go in for spay/neuter at SPCA. She said that if we surrendered Shelby to SPCA, they would do the surgery (no cost to us), make sure she healed, and that there was a high likelihood that someone would want her simply because she is "special needs".

She is super sweet, super active and otherwise very healthy.

I had less than 5 minutes to come up with a gender non-specific name---"Shelby" was what came out.

Surgery is scheduled for today.

This is Scamp, our red tick. 2 years old now. I guess you could say she was a rescue. Runt of the litter, getting trampled, and not healthy. Breeders brought her to the vet where my cousin works to see if they could help her. When they found out cost vs outcome, they said kill it. Well, you can see that didn't happen. Rules the roost and the shop.

He isn’t unhappy about it, in fact it’s quite the opposite.

He was so excited that when I made him stop and let me take his picture that he became unhappy.

He really just wanted to go explore the rain soaked night...but was being a good dog for my photo.

Bandit is our 13 year old Collie/Rough Collie mix. Far and away the best dog I've ever met. Incredibly loyal, great with all the kids, never causes any fuss. Only time he gets wound up is if he thinks someone's in danger.

Bandit looks alot like my dog from when I was a teenager he died 2 years ago I will find a picture.

The pic was taken a week after we got him, he was still considered a pup when we got him, he's been with us for a year now as of 2 weeks ago so he's full grown now.

I looked at some pics of Kelpies, and they do look similar though the face colors were mostly black and tan on a lot of pics. I'm more or less going by what was described to us as an "Australian Blue Heeler" when we acquired him. I also heard of "Red Heelers" too, but did not know of "Kelpies" until now.

'I do know this, he is a extremely smart dog, learned general dog commands intuitively and tries to 'herd' our 2 cats when they are running around the house until a stern NO is heard! And yes out in public with him the words "pretty" and "beautiful" are used quite often when seen.

On a related note- my wife told me a lady where she works and her husband found a kitten in the road and took it home.

had a distended belly which even the vet attributed to malnutrition...

until the second x-ray. It had been shot twice.

Who the F shoots a kitten?
