I used florescent red model car paint and a brush. Worked great.

does anyone know what orange paint I can paint my needle with, orange fluorescent?

I used Testors fluorescent model paint in the little tiny glass bottle and added a touch of red enamel to it.
The pure orange was just a bit too orange and I wanted to match the speedo and clock needles to the three new gauges on the left.

Enamels that use a solvent rather than aqueous carrier will tend to build a thinner film. If not starting from a clean metal base those seemed to be a better choice me.
FWIW Samples of Testors Fluorescent Orange and Red. Two coats on steel staples dipped in the jar. Metal was cleaned with acetone before dipping. Other cleaners would probably work just as well.

IMO the orange was closer to the '67 needles. One coat just touching up the worn areas.
