Best Weber Progressive 2 barrel

I don't know a lot about Webers. I've built a few. I want to plan a 225 with a single Weber progressive 2 barrel. Which would be the best one? I want one with a smaller primary barrel. Naturally aspirated build with a lumpy mechanical cam and header in a 64 Valiant 2 door sedan.

I suggest a Weber 36 dcd.
You can choose venturies.
Small in primary, big in secondary.
 
That seems to be an expensive choice.
 
The K cars had a weird set up with a progressive 2bbl. carb right? MP offered something for them years ago.

Yes I did. I thank you. From what I have read, the 32/36 is a good carburetor, but small for a 6 cylinder engine in a single carburetor application. From there, they 38/38 which is not progressive. I really want a progressive carburetor.

I belive the Weber 32/36 dgv could be a good choice whith jets and venturies etc suited for your engine..

I do belive a Dgv 32/36 could be adapted whith right choice of vents and jets etc to work on a slant. Dgv is vacuum secondary.Dcd is Mechanical secondary.
My choice would be a Dcd.

Anyway...
Slant 225 is a sweet motor...
Had one in a Signet 66 . ran like a dream.....but was not impressed of that single barrel Holley design..
 
FWIW, The Holley 5200 and 6500 series were licensed copies of progressive Webers and were used on various American cars. My Vega had a 5210, IIRC. I know, that's not the best recommendation ...

Along those same lines, I sold Holleys back in the 70's. If I remember they were a replacement for Ford's 2 stage 2 barrel on Pinto's. A friend replaced the Solex on his Opel with one. Made that 1800 scream!
 
I may have to go a different route. It seems most of the staged Webers are small. Small enough that one would not be sufficient and anything bigger isn't staged.

I've been down this rode with my slant six car.
1bbl 2bbl 4bbl. Cammed up, elec ign, built head,steel shim head gasket,big valves,porting,etc etc etc. Yep, all the naturally aspirated slant six tricks out there. The problem with this motor is the cylinder head. Yes you can shave for compression, and put in oversized valves. But after putting all this money into it, which I have done, a stock 318 will walk all over it.

Having said all that. Keep it simple here. Don't put a ton of money into this motor. Go with a simple 2bbl intake, and a 318 bbd. I prefer the cast iron 2bbl intake. Maybe a small bumpstick, but not really necessary. For exhaust, go with a set of Clifford headers. Or you can use the stock manifold. I cut the heat riser out and gasket match the manifold with a die grinder. Team it up with a single 2.5"exhaust, and nice free flowing muffler of your choice. Add a Mopar elec ign, and before it you have a nice running,dependable little A body, that will scoot right down the road. And without breaking the bank.
Anyways, just a little food for thought.

No but I have used a 600. If I end up going 4 barrel, it will likely be a 1404 Edelbrock to take advantage of those really small primaries. I am leaning toward a two barrel at this point.
 
A 500 Edelbrock 4 barrel would be a good choice as well.
 
I've been runnin a 32/36 for quite a few years now[like 14+]and have no problems with it. Compared to the 1 bbl that was on there, it was a difference between night and day. I felt it was still lean when living in central CA; I'm now at 5k and it seems to run tons better even though the air is thinner, so it did get richer. This is on a tired ol' stock motor. Good Luck
 
Depending on how good it runs, "it may" just stay a stock little 170. We'll just see. I just have so many parts left over from last time, I hate not to use them.
 
there's no 2x 2 bbl intakes available for a slant?

what a missed opportunity.

I'm not the biggest holley fan for street tuning, but a friend of mine swears by the "economizer" 390 4 bbl for all his 318 builds.
