Not all new country music sucks.

Chris Stapleton is the real deal, he stands head and shoulders above just about everybody in country music today. Another great band out there today is Blackberry Smoke, more southern rock than country, but certainly with country roots. Oh, and they play all of their own instruments!!

Justin Johnson and his shovel guitar.
I like some country instrumentals but country singers all sound the same to me.

The problem is.... out of all these great artist you guys have mentioned, only Chris Stapleton and Luke Combs are actually getting any air time on major country stations. I am a Nashville songwriter. I've been here since 2008 and have never strayed from traditional country. All the sudden people are starting to pay attention to my songs since people are starting to demand good music again. This bro country **** can kiss my ***.

I'm not much into country music other than Johnny Cash, but Austin's a friend of mine so I figured I'd post one of his latest and see what y'all think:

There's some interesting music here for sure. I've written off country radio, it's all too much howling, whining, rapcrap, and I-can-out-country-you garbage. Some real stuff here for sure.

For the Colter Wall fans, check out Townes Van Zandt. Sadly, he left us a while ago but he's an amazing talent and songwriter.

I didn`t read any of these posts, mainly because I`M NOT INTO 'CRYIN IN UR BEER MUSIC !"

Any Colter Wall fans? I've always preferred rock n roll but I like his music a lot and it's sort of country/rock.

I sure do, if you are from Oklahoma you might also remember the ordinary Joes very similiar style. Claim to fame was Flame On. They used to play at a bar where I provided security!

There are a handful if new artists that are producing really good country music. Cody, Sturgill, Chris are real deal. Unfortunately, you have to wade through a swamp of other stuff to find one good artist. I love this song because it sums up what has happened.

Been awhile since I’ve listened to country......

Toby Keith isn't allowed in my house. Here's the story:

My father in law was married and got divorced from his first wife. They have a daughter together. He left and had nothing to do with the baby. A "deadbeat dad" as some would say. His ex-wife went on and married Toby Keith.

A couple years back my father in law decided to try and contact his ex wife (AKA Mrs Keith) and/or daughter since he got his life together and is doing great for himself and would like to meet his daughter. They made it pretty clear they were fine without him. The daughter did contact my wife (her sister) through Facebook and they talked some.

My wifes family pretty much boycotts Toby's music and restaurants. :drama:

I played a gig with RB Morris a couple weeks ago, he is one of the finest songwriters in country music. Not bullshit bro country, he is the real deal. He was voted the best act in Nashville 2 years in a row. Nicest guy you would ever want to meet, and had a meet and greet after the show and talked to everybody he met. Great songs too, he’s John Prines next door neighbor and they song swap all the time and will play at each other’s shows.

There’s still a host of great music in country music, just not on the radio!

This is great to hear.

With the advent of self-driving vehicles, it's merely a matter of time before that country song comes out. "My truck left me ... just like my wife did ..."

I was always a fan of Toby Keith's music, but I lost all my respect for him as a celebrity and entertainer when he got caught up in the Wonded Warriors Project scandal. I know that he was just paid to do the commercials, but he had to know that the money was not being used to help wounded servicemen and women, but was going into about half dozen peoples pockets.

Can't stand much of todays country. However, I do like old skool country. Waylon Jennings, Kenny Rogers, George Strait and even Willy Nelson!

Listen to some of the videos posted. Whitey Morgan sounds like he is straight out of the 70s. Charlie Crockett sounds like Hank.

Good music is still coming out.
