So many people here get bent over a cowl hood on a Mopar. Well how about calling a Sure Grip a Posi. Posi is GM not Mopar! I see so many references to Mopar clutch diffs as a Posi. Lets use the right terminology please.

My posi trac works great :steering:

Some names have more than one meaning.

Exhibit A for the court, I hereby present an old gin bottle that I found on this property after moving to PA.

A Gibson's Gin 'Sure Grip' bottle;

I think there's more important things to worry about in life.
I bracket raced a 72 Demon back in the 80's. The track announcer constantly referred to it as a Duster.
I was listening to him on the frequency that the track broadcasted on, as I got my first (Street) eliminator win. As I cleared the traps, yep, he said, "Blah Blah in the Duster, runs right on with a 14.98 to take the win." Oh well!

A local guy has a 71 Challenger and whenever he shows it he is quick to point out that it is one of only 465 produced and it's still got the original 383, Muncie 4speed and a 4:11 posi rear end. I have explained to him several times that he has a New Process A-833 transmission and the rear differential is called a 4:10 sure grip. Yet, every summer he tells as many people as will listen that he has a Muncie and posi.
He wants me to work on it occasionally and I replaced a leaky fuel pump one time and put on some correct plug wires another time. He wants to hang around while I work and blah, blah, blah about how wonderful he and his car are so I politely decline. Plus, his posi drips on my shop floor!

It seems that the un-educated masses seem to use positraction as the generic name for whatever each manufacturer called their specific versions.
Doesn't bother me.

I heard a guy on Counting Cars, I think it was, call his shifter in a Mopar a gun grip. Haha.

I purchased a Limited slip from Eaton and it said posi right on the box it came in...so did it change to a sure grip when I bolted it in to my 8 & 3/4 ....what if I remove it again...confused

I have an Eaton tru trac. I think it's just easier to say you have a spool in the car, call it a day.

And all plastic filler is “Bondo.”

Okay- just had to add my two cents. Lol!

LOL I love all the comments. I did this because of all the haters and their cowl hood hate. Glad to see I can officially call mine Posi without being kicked out of the community.
