Interested on hearing results from this. My middle Son has suffered Migraines all his adult life. He has been to so many different Doc's we have lost track. He now uses pot and said it helps more than anything he's tried but doesn't make them go away completely. He would like to ditch the pot due to the fact it's still against the law in his state and his employer looks the other way as long as he doesn't smoke on the job.

Going to do the first injection on the the 15th. It is a once a month shot. I talked with my rheumatologist about it. He has seen 3 people that are on it. One had just started, the other 2 have been on it for 2-3 months, Dale told me that they were headache free. Will let you know how it goes for me...

Hope it does the trick for you. Chronic Pain along with Severe Headaches sucks.

Chronic pain...that is sort of what started things. I have been bugging my doc about several things. One of them is the pain. Currently take 70-80mg daily of Oxy, a mix of the extended release and the immediate release. Between that and needing Xanax to get ANY sleep I am a zombie. Have decided to return to the pain clinic for injections/RFA to try and manage my lower back pain some. Hoping that if I stay on top of my visits to the pain clinic...and this headache shot helps....that I may be able to reduce the narcotics some. My doc did agree that if the new med helps with my headaches that he will think about helping me lower the narcotics...just to see if I can deal with the pain. The rheumatologist just had some blood work done, wants to see where my inflammatory/pain markers are at. Dale is starting to think that some of my pain may be related to all the arthritis....and that they may have a better way to treat all this crap than just throw pills at me...but he did caution about getting my hopes up...

My Son has the headaches but only normal aches and pains for a 46 year old.Hopefully the shots will help you and possibly give him some hope.I have the chronic pain but only minor headaches. 2 years ago I went cold turkey and quit the Oxy but now take 2000 mg of Ibuprophen a day to keep it to a dull roar. I just had Kidney function tests done as a result. I have to admit that some of my pain was withdrawal due to my body wanting more and more oxy. I'm almost 70 now and have accepted the fact I will never be pain free but hope you find relief soon. I got my hopes up on Medical Marijuna but it didn't work well and was way to expensive.

Better hope the weed heads don't see this....they claim pot cures EVERYTHING!! I tried it as well...one of the tag alongs to my mental health crap is persacutory ideation..aka paranoid. Always laugh when a weed head tells me I need to use pot. My pains do not come and go...24/7/365. What I am going to do, send my entire life stoned?

Good luck!

That is such a debilitating condition!
Thank you Sir.

I don't have migraines but do have head aches 5-6 days aweek. Use a lot of Excedrin migraine aspirin. I might check with my doctor and see what he thinks, it does get really old having headaches almost every day. :(

My daughter is a senior pharmacist for a major hospital in Boston . The chemical in weed is available in prescribtion form and has been for 20 years . There is no need to smoke weed for pain relief . My wife takes 17 pills a day plus 2 inhalers and oxygen 24/7 . Talk about chronic pain ! We are fortunate in that we live near Boston where some of the best medical facilities in the World exist . Hang in there , guys . Keep the faith and don't give up .

I agree on the pot. I had a Cousin who had such a good memory he could remember Dates/Time and year of stuff. He did the pot his whole Adult life and by the time a Heart Attack took him at 65 his memory was non existent. He was also Bi-Polar so you can imagine the periods of paranoia he had.Pot is not a cure all for everybody.

The chronic pain issue is a *****, no doubt about it. I have had 3 total knee replacements, a 5 layer spine surgery a partial labrum tear. I am familiar!

Was on Norontin (gabapentin), Fentnyl and Duloxetine for years. I have quit all that and only take the Duloxetine now with 3000 mg of Ibuprofen daily. We called it Vitamin I in the military. Maybe not the best for kidney function but it helps.

Hang in there guys, you're not alone!

They have gel tablets or oil at the weed store that are heavy on the CBD aspect and light on the THC aspect. I dont know how much you have to take to get the results you are looking for. There are varying opinions of weather this stuff is safe for you but if you havent already looked into it, maybe it will provide some relief.

What I tried was the CBD Oil. It kinda worked but not well. Also very expensive since obviously Insurance won't cover it. Might work for some but is not the Magic Potion they try to make it out to be.

I live in Washington state....and have a pain contract. I am subject to random drug testing. If anything is found that is not prescribed I will lose the ability to get pain meds so.....my doc did tell me that if I wanted to try CBD oil or pot I have to tell him to avoid any problems. As you mentioned it anything related to pot is pricey. Being out on disability I don't have the bottomless pockets that some folks do....

I work for a Pharmaceutical company developing CBD drugs. I can tell you for a fact that the crap that is out there over the counter does not have appropriate levels of CBD to relieve pain and inflammation. We know, we have tested them and they are little more than snake oil.

We use pure synthetic CBD and our clinical results are amazing. We are currently the World leader in CBD Pharmaceutical development. THC is not part of our research since it it psychoactive and only acts on the mind...not the body.

Looks like Ddaddy has the hookup. If your doc writes you a script for the synthetic, will it bypass a piss test? AND if its prescribed correctly. .. maybe even covered by insurance?

Thanks for the info...

When I see my doc for my next "hook up" I will be asking him about this...

If the Excedrine Migraine works for you, have the doc prescribe Fioricet. It's a combo of butalbital, acetaminophen and caffeine. The butalbital relaxes the muscles, acetaminophen for the pain and caffeine dilates the blood vessels. Take it as soon as the headache starts. If you have a really bad headache, take two Motrin with it. Best stuff ever for tension headaches.

Anyone on it? Have had headaches for damn near as long as I can remember. Doc asked me if I wanted to try it, to see if it helps. So far the few people he has prescribed it to all say that the headaches have been reduced, if not completely gone.

This caught my attention as my wife's neurologist just prescribed it for her yesterday. He spoke very highly of it, not a lot of side effects and very good results. He said it may take a couple months to get the full effect, but many are showing good results from the first week on.

Now we just have to get the insurance to pay for it.

Hopefully it works for her...and you win the battle with the insurance company.
My doc have me 2 samples, a 70mg pen and a 140mg pen. I took the low dose one yesterday. February 15th will be the other one. My doc has told me that he has had several patients have success with it...and giving them samples to verify that it helps made the battle with the insurance companies go a bit easier.
My wife has taken several biologic meds for her several forms of arthritis. Several of them the insurance had no problem covering, problem was the $300-$500@month co-pays. She managed to get co-pay assistance on all of them. The one she is on now...she spent the better part of 4 months calling one funding group after another...only to end up back at the manufacturer who waved the co-pay. Hers is costing our insurance $5k@month if I remember right...But it is helping her...a lot. She goes for monthly infusions. By the middle of the third week she is feeling miserable. During her last infusion the nurse told her she needs to talk wit the doc as they can increase the dosage a bit more...
When we left the USPS I had no intention of taking Medicare when I became eligible for it. Sure glad I did. Between the Medicare & GEHA the only co-pays we have are for meds that we get form the pharmacy...everything else is 100% covered...

Well...so far not so good. I realize it has not been long enough to tell, hell I have not taken the higher dose yet...but damn....I am getting throbbing headaches still....
