Trans Fluid to Use?

A fool and his money are soon parted.
Won't they run on like 30 weight motor oil? I just go to Walmart and buy one gallon jugs of the dextron 3...
The one time I was slumming around and using a automatic in my duster that is..:poke:

Yes, they will.

727 ? I use Valvoline type f and a quart of 10/30 with 4200 stall.
I was told be a retired trans builder/ racer to just add a quart 10/30 with type f and forget all the bullshit. his exact words. I never toasted a 727 in any of my cars and trucks in 35 years.

Pretty much sums it up for me. Only thing I have used and will continue to use in my 727’s. Mopar new it as well.

Better friction and quicker shifts equals less heat. This does not equate to wear but longevity!

Rest assure Mopar was not trying to steal FORD service work!

You want nice mush continue to use dextron, want firm use “F”.

We have a member here who wrote a book on the 727 and is pretty knowledgable on it. He recently rebuilt my transmission using all the good parts that he had stashed around his basement. When I eagerly asked him what fluid I should run, he told me to go get a case of the cheapest Dexron III that Wally World has. This is for a street car that we beat on pretty hard. When I questioned him about buying some fancy expensive fluid, he simply said it wasn't needed.

That's exactly what I did after hearing the stories of how some big city fleet called for 30 weight in the motor and 30 weight in the transmission to make it easy! I'm surprised that story hasn't surfaced in this thread...
