intake alignment?

I have a weind stealth intake that cam off a motor that had been squared and decked,pistons came out of holes .020 and the heads had been worked,ported, polished,and milled(not sure how much)I,m trying to figure out if maybe they cut the intake down to match that work.when I put it on my engine it seems to narrow.the gasket seal line on the intake gasket sets high enough on the head that it shows above the intake.any ideas of how to check this? Thanks for help.
 
When’s our set the intake on the engine with the gaskets in place, do the bolt holes line up? In other words can you put in the intake bolts in? Sounds like the threads in the head are too high?

Maybe not any help here, but I stumbled across something that seems to be working well for me , on a 2954 victor. The bolt holes are more perfect than any intake I`ve messed with so far.
To check port and gasket alignment and to keep checking the same over and over while working on them, I have always used oversize bolts to line everything up , I got the idea of sleeving the 3/8" bolts I`ll be using to run it on the engine, a 3/8" copper sweat coupling with the stop rib filed out of the center fits over the bolt and locates the victor intake perfectly, also works well on the gasket when checking for alinment on the heads too---- just a thot----

Sounds like the intake has been machined. You may need to use 2 intake gaskets on each side.
 
Are you trying to use original style steel gaskets, or the replacement style soft material gaskets?
Like toolmanmike said, you need more thickness in your gaskets.
 
is that not a problem?,do you use some type of rtv between them and on heads and intake?have you ever ran 2 intake gaskets?
 
I have a set of paper(for lack of a better word)that came in a master rebuild gasket set.it also has the steel intake gasket.
 
How much of a gap do you have?
I would try 2 intake gaskets glued togther at max but honestly a new intake is the better route.

Felpro has steel, kit style blue composite ms90109 .030ish thick, and race style paper 1213 type with blue pinstriped port/water seals thick .060

Which are you using?

top pic looks like the one I have
Buy the the 1213 then , bottom pic then...its .060/thicker.

I like the ones you have, they don't sponge oil and rip n delaminate when swapping intakes...and they usually allow a tight manifold to just fit @.030 thick. If I'm milling, I figure for those 90109's.
 
This is the paperwork that came with my brand new Action Plus. Mine didn't sit correctly either. Too much of a gap between the head and the manifold. I talked to my neighborhood speed shop and he said to "just bolt it up, it should be fine". I used the thick gaskets and still had trouble getting it to seal. Never could get the water jacket to not seep. I bought a RPM Air Gap and it went together perfectly. Anyone wanna buy a gently used Action Plus?

Mother ******! lol... I couldn't find those thinner gaskets on Summit I bet they would have solved my problem. If we were closer we could have just traded! I have the bottom ones and am now getting my intake milled because it sits too high... oh well I think the thicker gaskets work better anyway.
 
yesterday I put the intake on with no gaskets,.060 feeler gauge under the 4 corners,snugged the bolts down,feeler gauge seemed to lock into place.Think I may be OK with the thicker gaskets.ordered a set,be here in a week,time will tell.:drama:

Was this the same way yours misaligned? Just got a wieand stealth and trying to solve a problem too... manifold seems to set too deep or narrow, not getting good port coverage even with the .060” gaskets

Seems to be sitting low, the blue seal rings in the gel pro gasket are exposed so very little mating surface on upper edges of ports. Pics uploaded... 2nd try with the wieand intake, returned and got another thinking it was a miss mulled part. For reference the block is decked .010, .040 head gasket. These are the new trick flow 190 heads out of the box
