I have complete A body RamRod shifter I did not use, and will not be using. Another member of FABO is interested in purchasing the shifter from me. Understandably, he is looking for information about modification required to install in an A body. As I did not have installed I cant help him with this info. Can anyone help us with information or photos? Thanks.

If it is an A-body version, the only modification required is possibly opening the shifter hole a bit, assuming it's going into a 4-speed car. Can't access my pics now, but that's the only modification that was necessary on my '71 Duster.

If you're handy with metal, you can build yourself a new mounting bracket to raise the shifter up and move it forward. This will angle the stick forward closer to the floor; so eventually you will run out of shift travel. But it will center the stick better.
On one car I had, I just did that and centered the stick where I wanted it. Then shortened the rods .
On another car I moved the shifter back between the buckets, and built new rods. No more reaching.

Pic of my Ram Rod shifter on the Jerico DR4W. With homemade bracket and linkage to put the shifter dead center in original hole in floor and one of shifter in the interior. Had this shifter on a Liberty prepped 833 with homemade bracket to center it in factory hole too.

I like that, I might have to test my fabrication skills and see if I can manufacture a bracket to mount shifter in factory hole. I was going to sell the shifter because I didnt want to modify my original floor, after seeing this I am reconsidering.

If you center it you might be reaching for it,being a straight short shifter.Just something to think about.The floor mods are so minor you can easily put it back to stock.I didn't want to cut my floor either but I'm glad I did now.The rods are pretty tight in there and definitely didn't want to modify those.
