Lol yea I'm sticking with this 40 year old 360!! Haha not much more to go now iv just about got all the parts bought up now I'm just waiting on the machine work. I hit a few speed bumps financially in the past week so I'm having to push it back again. I will get it done eventually.
I think now that I'm locked up money wise it's a good time to start sanding that ole rusty engine bay and and start prepping it for paint. Hard work and elbow grease dont cost a dime!!

That's a pretty critical comment. Something against me?
No of course not. He is likes to pick on me for not magnum swapping. I want a classic original look and the magnum just didnt fit my vision.
Although it would have been alot cheaper and faster just wasnt what I wanted.

Yeah you were definitely reading that wrong. I've been trying to get him to do a magnum swap because he started out as a major budget build. $200 for the Magnum (with a 6-month warranty) $200 for the manifold and $50 for the fuel pump... I was just saying if he couldn't come up with that or or didn't want to go that way I just don't see him popping down 5K plus on a motor...
I recommend blueprint engines to somebody who's looking for what you have to offer...

Now let's see some pictures of that shifter and what you're talking about...
I love fabrication..

Well glad to hear it! Yes sorry I totally read it backwards. Lol

I was gonna say we have always been friendly.

I'm going to go fiberglass and matting on the shiftee console. I did fab up the frame today.

If I had a metal brake...I would have totally done aluminum.

Pics to follow. Doesn't look like much now.

This is the ugliness left by removing my B&M quicksilver and installing this cheetah in the name of safety... I have to admit I would never do it again. That B&M was flawless and came with a nice console...I'm not at all sold on this cheetah. It's been in the car 2 seasons...not a fan.

This also reminds me how hideous the last thing in the car that remains original color is (the dash) I need to take the gauges out, and paint the dash

I did some research on fiberglass molding I saw ppl making all kinds of stuff by cutting cardboard and making molds with it then covering it in fiberglass. It turns out really nice I dont understand how that works Haha if I tried it it would become a big messy glob of nothing lol

Here is Amazon's best cardboard being used to template up a little console. Again wish I had a metal break, but I did make the bumper on this car. So I think wood and fiberglass will be my cover on this one. Doesnt need to do much besides cover the ugly. Here it is at the moment

That is exactly what I was talking about. How does the mold work? It appears to be wood. So you took the cardboard template and used the dimensions to make the wood mold?

Yeah, I'm not a body guy. The bumber you see in the pics is the one i made. I had it off and on a few times in the last few years to refine it more. It turned out "ok" lots of sanding, primer, etc. Would have bought one the 2nd time around lol

For this console, yes. You got it. It's more of a frame than a mold. Like the kiddos do to make speaker boxes for under seats and such.

For my bumper, I coated it in cooking oil then started laying on the matting and resin. Layers and layers...then sand and sand. The oe bumper popped out of the back.

For a "real" mold...you'd spray in a gel coat or releasant... then fiberglass INSIDE opposed to outside like I did, then pop it out.

Wow that looks pretty good for a homemade bumper I never even noticed!!

Nice work Johnny! Throw a cup holder or two in there.
I agree it does need something on the flat spot...I think my wideband is going there at the very least. Maybe a power outlet too. Trying to think of what would help at the track lol

How about console mounted tack and gauges?
