Can you help me repair this latch post?

Attached is a picture of the driver's door latch post on my '77 B200 Sportsman SE, which I have owned since new and is in pretty good shape. The latch post is composed of the inner post, a thin plastic tube over the inner post, and a thin wall steel tube as the outer part of the post. My inner plastic tube has broken and fallen out, so outer steel tube flops around and the latch won't work properly. Would any of you guys know how to repair this latch post, or do I need to find a different one? Thanks a lot.

I made a bronze bushing for mine , but ended up w/ a pair from ebay. I still have one some where if ur interested.

I am pretty sure it is the same latch as a A,B or E body, probably most 70's trucks. They are a pretty common wear item when the hinges start wearing out.

Honestly, I would be more concerned with the hinge wear, it needs fixed before changing striker pin.

Van lower hinges were very similar to 67-76 A body and 66-70 B body. However if you can find a late 90s ram van they use thicker pins and bronse bushings but otherwise are the same. Replace the upper and lower hinges with those newer redesigned hinges along with a dorman pin and bushing kit. Thread on them is still SAE, and not metric

Bill, before you go removing the old one, mark around it first. That way you can put the new one right back in the same place and probably get it right the first time.

Heck yeah, I'm interested, Bob. I just meant that I would follow everyone's advice to check the hinges, to see if maybe they had caused undue strain on the striker post. But yes, I am in great need of a replacement because it is different from other Chrysler products and I can't find one!
