...what kind of power can be made with them on a 451? Do any of the TTI headers fit?
Perhaps the better question is how much power will they make compared to the 270's?
11:1 or so compression, solid roller cam kind of build. Strip car that may get driven on the street...
 
My guess comes down to the build.
Tunnel ram with 300 degree roller cam and 14:1 + cr probably hit the 2 hp per cfm.

10:1 cr with high lift street cam around 275
Probably 1.7 hp per cfm.

And an in between build somewhere in between.

Apparently around 620 hp for this relatively mild build

I'm in the process of dropping this 470 into a Duster. The Duster is a bit of a project car so it will be a while before I'm on the road with it.

Thanks for the links. Any thoughts on any of the TTI headers fitting? I know the literature from Trick Flow states....

"Trick Flow designed the PowerPort 240 heads to use all factory-style big block Mopar pistons, roller rocker arms, intake manifolds, and headers" and "Exhaust Port Location: Standard"

But that doesn't mean a whole hill of nothing....
 
The same horsepower Andy made with his 470 is possible with a 451. The 240 Trick Flow heads can be touched up to flow with our Edelbrock RPM heads and they have made 780+ HP on a pump gas 451.

And yes, we have run the TTI headers on the 240 Trick Flow heads.
 
TTi needs to update their website to include the Trick Flow heads. I sent them a note about it a while back but evidently they don't pay attention to my input........

I wrote 3 articles for Mopar Action on the 470 build and then I did a couple of articles for Car Craft on the same build so you might have seen the build either place.

I have a second 470 engine (dry sump engine) that I did for Car Craft. 470 #2 was used to test the 240 heads against the 270 heads. You can find that article on the Hot Rod website.
 
I had 451 built with the 240 heads, 11:1, we went with a solid ft, 2" tti, he didn't like my m1 for this combo but that's what I'll be running. The goal was 650.
 
I did speak with TTI few days ago. Woman I spoke said that TTI has never verified fitment but has sold headers to quite a few folks running the 240 heads and have yet to hear of any fitment issues. I know a couple folks have said TTI headers will work with the 240's, just wanted to verify...

I had asked that question on some of these trick flow threads before I bought the 240s and never got an answer from anyone. I had already modified my 2" tti to work with a B anyway.
 
Which rockers work with the 240's? Started looking at a few different sites and got a bit confused...

Never mind...brain fog cleared a bit..

I just fired my 440 last night that is equipped with trick flows. I used comp magnum roller rockers and my Tti headers fit great. Much better spark plug access with the angled plugs.

I’m bolting my 240’s on my .040 over flat top piston 440 with a purple shaft .509 flat tappet cam and an Edelbrock performer RPM intake, 800 CFM carb and TTI 1 7/8 headers and Comp magnum roller rockers. The motor ran pretty good with the factory heads/intake/exhaust manifolds but I believe this will seriously wake it up. I built the engine 3 years ago and put 2,000 miles on it. Got tired of bone stock. I weighed my70 GTX prior to starting, it weighed 3,640 lbs. I’m hoping it’s down to 3,400 lbs. I’ll let y’all know how it runs. Compression should come in at 9.7:1. I was hoping a little more but the pistons sit down in the hole more than I remember when I built it. I can’t imagine what the compression was with the stock heads.

I got 613 hp and 625tq using TF240 heads and a solid cam on a 451. 10.75 comp with hooker headers that needed 1 pipe slightly bent. It made 13" vacuum and was extremely easy to drive. I would recommend what Andy did a 470 would be even better. The motor revs quickly as well. The best thing is to get a light piston like a ross like I did and good rods. Good luck

A good basic estimate without pushing the limits is cfm X 2 = potential HP. That would be a stout build. Not a hard core HP chase.
But you can make more than the basic laymen’s math equation. A lot depends on how far you want to take it.

A bad *** street machine?
CFM X 2 = HP potential.

?? 451 x 2 h.p. = broken block if hammered often
500c.i. 440 , x 2 =1000 h.p. another broken block !

what rpm were the peaks and what did the torque curve look like?
 
The “240” is the intake runner volume in CC’s.
It’s not what the head flows in CFM.

Torque peaked @ 4200 and hp@ 5800 TQ curve was really nice came in @ 2700 and stayed up to 5700 vacuum is 12-13 @ idle and power brakes felt nice. All around a wonderful street engine
