18x9's with 275/35/18 BFG KDW2's up front
18x10's with 295/35/18 BFG KDW2's out back

The BFG KDW2's were discontinued shortly after I bought these, not sure what the next set of tires will be. Up front the 18x9's have a 6.4" backspace or +35mm offset, but I run them with DoctorDiff 13" cobra style brakes which add about 5/16" to the track so the effective backspace is more like 6.1" In the back I have a '68-70 B-body 8 3/4, so the 18x10's are +38mm or a 7" backspace. That's also with a DoctorDiff 1/2" spring offset and about another 1/2" trimmed off the quarter lips for clearance.

Did you have to modify it any?
It fits between the relocation boxes nicely. I still need to drill holes in the boxes for the endlinks. Not sure how creative I need to get with the end links. But modification will be minimal if any.

With the 3" relocation you shouldn't actually have to do anything to the end links. 72BBswinger used that bar, this is a picture of the mount and endlinks on his car

I use the same rear bar on my Duster, but I don't have the spring relocation. On mine, because I used the stock frame rails I did the install similar to the instructions with the reinforcing tube through the frame rails. The bolts included with the Hellwig E-body bar are too short for the endlinks on the frame mount, the frame rails are actually wider on an A-body than and E-body where they mount. So I needed longer bolts. I don't remember buying new tubes, they were either long enough or I had the tubing on hand already. I used the supplied end links, but it does put a slight angle on the links because of the width of the bar. I made up a set of heim joint end links that will solve that issue, but I haven't installed them yet.

I’ll have to give this some thought for sure. I also have the added complexity of the Caltrac hardware.

Sorry about hijacking your thread, khuebner250 and I are starting to go back and forth copying each other. Our cars are completely different but have many similarities.

Rocket Racing Attack Wheels
18x8, 5.5" BS with 235/40-18 Nitto NT05, 200 tread wear tire I wanted a 9" wheel, but they didn't have the backspace that would work. Nitto has the same tire in 245/40 and I'll likely get that one whenever I wear these out.
18x10, 6" BS with 285/35-18 Nitto NT05. Nitto has this in 295/35 and I'll go up to those when these wear out.

I didn't get the larger sizes I mentioned because I was worried about how accurate their measurements are. I'll have enough room to step up a size on both front and back.

I would define RestoMod as a car that looks stock at first glance but has some cleverly hidden upgrades.

Examples would be:

11.75" brakes (most people wouldn't even notice they are larger)
Aluminum heads cast to look like stock and painted the OEM color.
Painted aluminum intake
Stroker motors running cast iron manifolds
5 speed swap with a stock handle so the interior still looks OEM (at a glance)
FiTech or Snyper hidden under a stock air cleaner

I see no real relationship between pro-touring and restomod, nor the parade queens as referenced above. To me, they are all different beasts.

Finally, I would define pro-touring as a car with modern upgrades to maximize the handling and driveability, often at the expense of originality. Big brakes, wide/lower profile/sticky tires, stiffer springs/shocks, chassis stiffening, etc. This isn't limited (IMO) to just the chassis, but could include more power and some creature comforts (AC, CC, etc.). Maybe the best definition would be "a more modern classic".

Just some thoughts.

Hahaha, you’ve pretty much just described my car.

18x9 front w/ 255/40-18
18x10 rear w/ 295/40-18

I'm seriously thinking I will eventually go 18x9.5 w/ 275/35-18 and 19x12 w/ 325/30-19

That is a killer barracuda you have there sir! Nice work! I really like the color with the black wheels. What color green is that? Looks almost like the same color of my Dakota.

I mocked up some wheels on my Duster last weekend just to see if they clear. The quarter lip is not rolled yet and they still have room. Not planning on a pro touring setup on the Duster but man after looking at this picture on my phone for a week it sure is tempting. The viper wheels are 17x13.

I'm loving that setup, and basically the stance I'm going for with mine. Would you mind sharing your rear suspension setup? I'm running an A-body 8-3/4, SS springs with lowering blocks, Springs relocated and 1/4 trim on the lips. Wondering if I can fit the same.

I started with the mopar circle track springs in an effort to save a few dollars. That turned out to be disastrous. You can read about it here --> Dr Diff Offest Kit With Oval Track Springs

I ended up ordering the Hotchkis leaf springs. That's what the car is sitting on in those pictures. I was worried about them being too low, but they are perfect.
Super Stock springs were good for one thing, drag racing. I had them on this car long ago when I first built it. Then I switched to Caltracs. This is the first time I have a non-drag racing spring on the car and it is amazing how nice it rides.

Ill definitely keep that in mind for my build. I just browsed your build thread and utilizing that wheel backspace you can clear a 295 with offset hangers? Did you have to trim or roll your quarters?

I took about 1/4'-3/8" off the wheel lip. I actually wish the wheel had a touch more offset but buying off the shelf wheels was more important to me than spending $1K per wheel by going custom. @72bluNblu has 295s on the rear of his Duster/Demon and 275s on the front. He is using a B-Body rear end, so his offsets will differ from mine. Point being, there's lots of room in the Duster wheel well for wide tire on a larger diameter wheel. I think a 10" rim is about the limit with the offset spring hangers. You may be able to squeeze a 10.5" rim if you can get the correct offset, it's not really a common width, but I did come across it when searching for wheels.

Awesome! I reached out to @72bluNblu and he helped me out tremendously but actually seeing it on your car looks pretty awesome. Thanks to both of you for all the input and help!

Hotchkis' site says those are 1" lower, but your's looks pretty stock, height wise. pictures lying to me? what do you think?
thanks

I have no idea what stock height is, do you? Is it measured to the wheel lip? Mine is about 25-5/8” from the ground to the wheel opening.

There are a decent number of 18" or 19" wheels that come in a 10.5" width. That would work out to be 11.5" wide from outer lip to outer lip. A Duster/Demon/Dart Sport has about 13" of space without any quarter trimming with the 1/2" offset. I got mine up to about 13.5" with the lip trim, but some of that is lost to the shape of the outer wheel tub because of my ride height. In the back my car is just under 25.5" from the ground to the quarter lip. Most 295's have a section width around 12", so, that's about the max you can run and still have enough clearance. But that should still work on a 10.5" wide rim.

Just ordered a set of Firehawk Indy 500
245/40/18 front
275/40/18 rear

I have another thread going with photos if interested.

Ready to buy tires and rims for my 72 Dart that has been mini-tubbed. Have 14" of tub room. Looking at a 295/40/18 out back. Thats 27.3 x 11.6
Any of you running a 28" tall tire or bigger?
What size are you running up front? I have a 73 K and suspension. Was thinking a 26" x 8" tire.
Also was thinking of running 17" wheels up front. Seems to be more selection for that size tire in a 17" versa an 18".
Also looking at the Nitto NT555G2 tire.
Thoughts??????

As far as pro touring is concerned, big and littles are for looks. If you plan to use your pro touring car for any type of track day, forget it. You'll learn really quickly it isn't a good idea.

I run the same size tire and rim all around. 18x9s. 275 35s. BfGoodrich Rival S. Very good tire designed for our type cars. Michelin Pilot 4S is the updated Super Sport. It's probably the best all around tire on the market period. They make lots of sizes too.
