The wipers on my '65 make a couple swipes and then stop for short time and does a couple more swipes. I bench ran the motor for 30 minutes with no problem. Does the s/w have Circuit breaker?

Like the headlight switch, it would be internal to the switch. Do you have the variable speed switch or something else?

Maybe that particular wiper switch was made for a government car.........that is if it takes frequent breaks, but when you're watching it it works continuously ?????

The circuit breaker is inside the switch and it is a strip of bimetal. It will crack in half and fail completely eventually. Learned that the hard way back in mid 80s.
I took the 67 variable switch apart and routed those connections out of the switch so a common/can type cycling circuit breaker could be attached outboard. Of course the linkage and pivots were serviced to stop the high resistance in operation.

Thanks for the idea. I lubed the linkage when I checked the motor a year ago. A strange thing happened yesterday when I tried the wipers. They kept working. Now how do you figure that?

Change in the resistance? Water inside pivot(s) lubricating the rust/wear? Who knows?
