Found a 225 on the local CL. Evan and I went Columbus to get it. Bout a two hour ride. Met a cool dude, Jeremy ( @2nup350 ) who is also a member here. He's got some cool stuff. Got the 225 apart tonight and it looks real good. Has all kinda accessories. AC, PS, all the brackets and braces. Course I ain't usin the PS and AC so I'll just put back all that. So far it looks like a great core for a long rod 225 build. Will post pictures in a bit.
Should have let me know you were in Columbus. I would have met you there. Next time!

Well, it was kinda a last minute thing. Evan and I usually don't get a day off together. We'll have to plan to meet up somewhere.

Barring me dying or becoming incapacitated, my Dart will be finished soon, and we can meet up then.

Gettin some real progress done! I got all the bad rust cut out of the left rear side and all of the old spot welds ground smooth. Next I will get the wire brush wheel and go around the perimeter and clean it all up and hit it with some weld through primer in preparation to spot weld the pan in. I am going slow, because I am easily winded because of all my health issues, so please bare with me. Bout 30 minutes at the time is all I can stand. But that's gettin it done.

HOWS THE KNEES HOLDING UP ?

Well, my weldin skills ain't what they used to be, but I got it done on the driver's side. Up by the trans tunnel is pretty thin. I may cut a strip out there and replace some more. That's why it looks sorta crappy. It kept blowin through. I had to make that 6" strip in front of the rear floorpan because the bad metal went a little further than the replacement pan. All in all, I think it looks ok. Once I dress the welds with a grinder and hit it with seam sealer, wire grind the rest of the surface rust off the remaining pans and hit it with paint, it will look good. Got the other side on the way. Should be here next week. So I have plenty to do. lol

We just started doing the front floors on my 64 Valiant. I had bought the pans from Rockauto about 3 years ago. Good case of getting what you pay for. They are pretty much a waste of money. Ordered new ones from Auto Body Specialties. More money but much better parts.

That's where I got mine. It just sorta fell in. My only complaint would be it is a little short in the rocker area. It did not quite go all the way to the edge. But the welder fixed all that.

Looking good! Seam sealer is my best welding tool.

Considering the originals spot-welded and a very fair space you did enough.

That's my motto if I can weld it stronger than it was in the factory that's good enough

Aight den. The left side is done, sans for grinding off the remaining surface on the rest of the floorpan on that side and painting it. Seam sealer and all. I'm sorta a little unhappy with how the joint at the transmission tunnel came out, because it is pretty thin up there. It blew through pretty easily no matter the heat setting, but I managed to get all the holes welded up. It's not goin anywhere for sure. My other pan will be here by the end of the week, so I will start on that side soon.

Took a little break from the car a few days but tonight I got back at it. Got most of the bad rust cut out of the right side. Going to grind down the old spot welds, repair a few holes in the rocker that I screwed up on and then get it ready for the new pan.

Thanks. Having to quit my job has kinda knocked the wind outta my sales a little. I already needed help BAD with motivation. I am literally forcing myself to do this. I'll get there.

Sorry to hear that buddy.
Why was you forced to quit?

Whatcha going to do about the door locks??

Did your car come with keys??

My valiant wagon didn't come with keys and I am not paying big bucks for rare lock sets, so I converted to the mega common and cheap to get, later type locks

Hay, I like how you did that! nice work. Mine has the lock on the driver door, none on the passenger door, just like the 65 I had years ago. And yes, mine came with the original Chrysler ignition key. The trunk lock and latch were both missing but I got all that taken care of. The driver door lock works just fine.

It was a combination of my health and some corporatey nonsense. It was just time.

Just about there myself
Had a moderate stroke in February.
Turned 64 last week.
Have a "boss" ( and yes, l use that term VERY loosely !) that is half my age that don't know she***t .
I like the term "corporatey nonsense " Living it every day myself.
And have more projects than l will probably ever have time to get done.
Looking very seriously at that big "R" - -
retirement .
Take care of yourself.
