im finally putting a/c on the slant after getting all the parts together....so I thought. I have a single 170 slant v belt harmonic balancer. Engine is coded 65. I also was given the belt tensioner pulley and bracket. It’s not lining up..... at all. So I need to push the ac condenser to the front of the car about 1 inch to make it past the first v belt ring.

The dampener I was given is four inches deep and has six holes in it. A 170 I just let go had the same dampener as mine only had an extra v belt spot for the ac. Does this look correct or what is this from? Bottom two are what’s on the car now

I don't know what that balancer/pulley is in your hand, but it doesn't look right. When you say "AC condenser" I am assuming you mean "AC Compressor". What you need is the bolt on pulley for the AC, I believe. It bolts right to the front of the pulley that's already there.

Now, please understand I am not very well versed in slants as I usually have pulled them in the past in favor of V8s. But I am building one now for my 64 Valiant that currently has a 170. So, my advice may be flawed.

And oh yes, we need the year make and model of your car. That would help greatly.

Sorry. Yes the compressor. It’s late.

66 valiant signet coupe with the knee knocked ac setup. And I only see three bolt holes. I have no clue as to the big pulley either

It's possible that is a dealer added unit. Can you get some good pictures of the compressor mounted to the engine and the under dash unit? Does the under dash unit have a name on it?

The pulley in your hand appears to be a 273 ac pulley. I believe the slant balancer has to come off,and a pulley bolts on to the backside of the balancer. I believe the power steering pulley bolts to the front side of the balancer.

This is correct. ^^^^^^^

That’s awesome. I was racking my brain wondering how that was going to fit. And everywhere I looked I had the idea that it was just too big for it.

The pic you posted is the knee knocker style that was dealer installed. Being dealer-installed, they would have used all factory hard parts to the greatest extent possible - compressor, drier, condenser and some of the hard/hose lines.

If you have PS then you will have 2 bolt on pullies- one behind and one in front of the balancer with the pulley for the alternator. I’ve seen several with aftermarket knee knickers and no PS use the front PS pulley on the front.

No power steering. Has the good ol’ Manual arm strength. So once I get the correct harmonic balancer then I’ll have all the parts

Let me run out and look. I might have the right balancer and or pulley.

Yup. I have it. You can have it either way. The whole balancer, or just the AC pulley. Your choice.
