I'm just wondering if there are any dog people here that are as addicted as I am . I've had dogs all my life but it seems the older I get the more important they are to me . I just had to put down my dog of 10 1/2 years due to a tumor and I swore no more . Well this past Tuesday my wife and I rescue a yellow Lab Hound mix, the dog has had neglected ear infections for a long time . What amazes me is how happy he is just to be petted and treated good by someone even in pain .Thursday morning I had to drop him off at the surgeons to have his right ear operated on not really knowing what was being done (surgery set up by rescue organization) . I find out due to the neglect he has polyps growing out of the right ear from the inside out which causes a total canal blockage and basically they gut the ear to relieve the pain which renders that ear deaf. Keep in mind the left ear is still infected and a work in progress but I've been assured he will have low level of hearing from the left ear when the infection is cured . So I'm spending my memorial weekend nursing my dog and happy to do it . What really amazes me is after all the neglect he still wants the attention of a human . Thanks for your time

There are many top level dog owners here. I can name at least two of them. Bad Sport and Revhendo I know have rescued dogs.

I have four right now, all rescues.

I'm sorry about your dog you had to put down, but I'm glad you jumped back on the horse to save the dog you now have. That dog will be the best friend you have.

THANK YOU for doing what you are doing. The shelters and pounds and shelters are full of wonderful animals that would love to have a home.

Again, THANK YOU.

I have a 1 year old female lab and a male Chihuahua mix. I've never liked small dogs, but this one is cool. He showed up on a jobsite and hung out with me everyday for about a week. The temps dropped below freezing one day so I loaded him up and brought him home.

I put my 13 year old male lab down about a year and a half ago. I didn't want another dog but I want my kids to grow up with a dog. I gave in and got them a female lab. The Chihuahua happened a couple months later.

Nope. Just regular people here. Some own dogs.

I’ve never seen dog people.

I wonder if they look like this?

After losing Oliver in November, we finally adopted Clyde from a rescue. He was being fostered in Norwich NY. His first shindig was the NJ FABO picnic and it wore him out. Thanks Uncle Bryan!

That's when you know they are happy. When they can crap out like that they know they are safe and loved!

Good job. You made that little dogs day. And life.

Yeah, he knows he landed in a good spot. Just like Oliver, he is a foodie to the max.
On the way home from Scranton picking him up we stopped in Lansdale at Royal Farms. Cindy got some chips and opened them when she got back in the car, and got him back in her lap. She opened the bag and I was already to take his pic anyway and boom, less than 1 second, his head was in that bag. My kind of dog!

Heres my mut.

Ear infections and all, I love him!

He sleeps with us on the bed and comes to the shop. He loves laying in the sun with his feet in the air.

I post some of my kids later, jus remember, GOD spelled backards is DOG !

Yep, lots of dog lovers here on FABO! THANKS for rescuing yours.
We've got two rescues right now, my wife's 17-lb Brittany/Cocker mix and my 102-lb Rhodesian Ridgeback.
Her 'little girl' came from a puppy mill in the California high desert and we drove from SoCal to just above San Francisco to pick up my 'big guy'.
We're the fourth owners of 'Red' (the Ridgeback) and he's just over 2 years old; his last owner turned him back to the breeder because he wouldn't hunt pigs.

My poor guy is always scared.
I think he was abused but now he just gets to relax.

He dont like strange folks touching his head but he love it when I scratch it.

Hes my boy, we ride in the race car to the shop while he hangs his head out the window and if I dont take him and he hears the car fire off. He's right there at the gate like "WTF? dad did your forget me?"

When he falls asleep I push his tongue back in so it dont dry out.

This is Maggie Mae. I rescued her from the pound 6 years ago. She is around 9-10 years old, and the best dog i have ever had in my life. What a smart gentle Loyal breed. She ls a 140 lb Pure bred Great Pyrenees, it is going to kill me when she leaves me. Something different about a rescue dog, they know you have saved them and that does something to them. When i am out in the yard of the garage, she plants herself so she can guard me from anyone coming up the driveway.

The big blonde one is technically my boyfriend's, but I'm like her step mom lol. He got her from a friend and we've been together since she was a little puppy. We got the little Beagle mix together because one of his friends decided they didn't want another dog anymore. I don't like little dogs but I love our Beagle mix; loves to fetch and play and will snuggle next to you in bed. Dogs are awesome, and it's great to see so many happy and loved furry family members! :)

I'm sorry about your pup. Its so awesome that you went and brought a rescue into your family after your loss. I also have a rescue named Dodgey. He is the best and smarter than most people these days lol.
