Any Dog People Here ?

Wait a minute. You named a dog terrorized by thunder, "Sparky"? :poke:
He is a rescue dog and that was his name when we got him and the name he responded to from day one. I wasn’t about to change it. :)

We have three 2 rescues Marshall and Lucy Marshall is the big white boy and Lucy is the brown one she is the newest addition. I'm not sure what breed they are.
The little guy, rocky is a toy Australian shepherd. He is a sweet boy

Here's our three. The Chocolate Lab is Leo. Got him 12.5 years ago when an older couple got him and he was too much for them to handle. He's my buddy.

The pit mix we got from the SPCA after we put down Leo's Chihuahua best friend. Leo howled for 3 days until we brought Ziggy home.

The black Labaraner (Lab Weimaraner mix) is Dale. We picked him up from a little two lane road near our house. He had a chip. His owners were Marine Corps stationed in Japan and had left him with family. When we got him he was skin and bones. They said their family wouldn't answer the phone and asked us to keep him forever.

All three are REALLY great dogs.

No wolf dogs allowed on the couch!

Sometimes I pretend like if I make rules in my house, that someone will listen.

Poor Sparky, he is terrorized by thunder and fireworks and we are getting a bunch of storms tonight. He would climb into my pocket and hide if he could. Best I can do is show him that I am calm and reassure him that it’s all OK. He is stuck to me like glue tonight.
I had a Rottie that was given to us by a family that was breaking up. It's a long story... Great dog etc.

The first time a storm came through, he started getting a little frantic and seemed to be expecting us to do something. I just told him to lay down and went back to watching TV. He jumped a couple times for thunder but seemed to calm down after a while.

I was really worried that the dog was afraid, but after talking to the family, I found out that the wife was terrified of thunderstorms. It was a learned response to expect to go hide under the blankets during a storm.

After a couple storms, he was fine.

Good luck with your dog. Sounds like you are doing the right thing with him... Just showing him that you are calm and not afraid.

Oh they listen. They just ignore you and go right on doing what they want.

That's how it works at my place. I claim to have trained the dogs, but they've trained me.
Dog, Wife, Kid....selective rule followers for sure :p

Could you imagine a punk trying to steal something from a truck and opening a door to this?? Hahaha I bet he'd shat himself Haha he looks big and bad but he is really a big teddy bear.

We had shepherds for 35 years. Just hadda put poor Will Henry down. Perfectly good dog with no wheels; couldn't get up to pee or get a drink o' water. Life's pretty empty without him.

Here’s our rescue Lucy. The wife picked her but Lucy is a daddy’s girl. Too bad that she doesn’t like riding in cars or she would get more shared time. She’s loves getting dressed up.

She met Clyde at the FABO/FBBO Picnic, but he wasn’t too impressed with her. That’s too bad Jim. Clyde lucked out and got a great new momma and poppa!

Had to give my Dodgey a bath today. Poor guy is allergic to grass and gets dermatitis and stinks. Always this time of the year. Mr stinky. Lol. Pure bred pitbull. There known for it.

I'm glad to see so many post their pets . Well things got interesting after my initial post , my dog was healing from major ear surgery and I thought he was doing good . My son and his wife came over to see Yogi but I was quick to learn he wasn't ready to meet people as he tried to attack them which was a big surprise since he seemed so laid back . Yogi was even growling at the neighbors for being outside so I wasn't sure if he was staying or not . The healing progressed and things seemed to be better when we got a call from the vet letting us know Yogi needed some injections 3 times a day for 5 days for his other ear infection , so we dropped him off to be boarded and medicine administered . We pick him up tomorrow and all reports are he is social with other dogs and has no problem meeting new people . My wife and I discussed whether we should maybe not continue this but the big question was if we don't care for Yogi who will . Yogi is definitely extra effort but in the end I think he will be great addition to our home . More to come
