So I’m taking off the holly 750 that the previous owner put on the ‘71 318 that is in my ‘66 Barracuda. My buddy gave me a street demon 625, but it has an electric choke. I’ve read that I need to splice it to the dark blue wire, so it will only get power when the key is turned. Well, like a bowl of bad spaghetti, my harness is a MESS! Can anyone point out which wire I’m looking for? This is my 1st classic car, so this is all new to me. Let me know if I need to snap any more pics. Thanks in advance.

I normally run a new wire, from correct ignition switch circuit (hot only in key on position), with an inline fuse. Guarantees adequate current supply without overloading an existing circuit.

Just did this a couple days ago. I put a spade terminal on the end of the red wire Edelbrock supplies and jammed it in the back end of the dark blue wire on the ballast resistor. There is enough room for it to go in and hold well while making contact with that dark blue wire. You could tap the blue wire but I try not to cut the harnes if I don't have to.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is the ballast resistor under the dash, or in the engine compartment? Thanks.

Ballast resistor is a white 1 1/2"×3" long porcelain rectangle with usually 2 or 4 prongs sticking out of it, under the hood on the firewall or drivers inner fender. Use the search button and type in electric choke wire install, good info in a couple threads.

The blue wire on the voltage regulator is the same ignition switch source. Only switched 12 volts in engine bay so you'll tap a blue wire regardless of where/how.
