I pulled my A833 apart and re-gasketed while I had my motor out. Had a drip from reverse side cover shaft. Tranny very clean and always worked well. Thought I was all set. Finally registered car yesterday and low and behold No 3rd and 4th. I did bench test and all was working before install. I did align shifter with 1/4" pin. Linkage has all good bushings. Cleaned and lubed shifter while out. I'm hoping it's something stupid but got disgusted and had a few drinks instead of investigating. Can reverse adjustment affect this? I thought I read someone adjusts reverse separately but I never have. I may have to take side cover off if I can't find linkage issue and check slider . I'm hoping maybe I forgot to tighten the shift rod at box but couldn't be so lucky.I will also check the shifter stops as well. Just throwing it out there in case someone can add suggestions.

I think something obvious is going to jump out at you after a careful inspection...

The shifter moves in to the gear and nothing? Or will not shift in to the 3rd 4th position?

Is it the ball and detent side cover of the lever side cover?

Also, I've broken a few brass shift levers. They fail fairly easy if they get a nick or something.

Happy Happy Joy Joy. I'm getting forgetful in my old age. I had all shift rod nuts hand tight while I adjusted the shifter rods with the pin in. Forgot to tighten.LOL
Sooo glad it was something simple for a change. Took it for some gas, all is good!
