OK- doing a restoration on a '68 383 motor. Things are coming together well until I come to installing the spark plug wires. I have all the "correct" clips in place (9) and date coded wires from Classic Ind. These things fit terrible, most of them are a little short, but #7, the longest of the set is about 8" too short. I admit I am very particular about ignition wire routing, but is this normal? What has been your experience with these repo sets? Should I be buying from someone else? Want this to be nice- what should I do? Help! Thanks.

Just a couriosity question. Is it possible that A-Body 383 vs B-E body 383 route wires different?

As for accuracy of repo parts I just replaced my fuel lines from pump to carb on my 273 2bbl and the Classic repos were close but the curve at the fuel pump is significantly larger then oe.
I also replaced positive battery harness, same thing, a few inches shorter, and the molded section at the firewall at the hold down clamp was not as long as oe.

Thanks for helping me to see the obvious that I missed. You could be right, the repo sets are date coded for 383/440 engines and don't specify A-B-E body. This is an original 383, '68 cuda. Anyone know where to purchase the correct one? That too short #7 really bugs me.

That does not sound right. I've used several sets of the old MP orange restoration small block wires and they all but installed themselves. Something doesn't sound right. I cannot STAND Classic's web site........if their products are anything like that, then you may have issues. I would be calling them.

Contact Classic and see what they have prob a exchange.

I recently bought a set of date coded spark plug wires and same problem to short. Took a closer look at the package wires were for a different 383.
Exchanged with the vendor, problem solved.

I would sure like to find myself a set of new orange wires for my small block.
The few sets of after market wires i have used have always been too long for the most part.

Does year one not carry them anymore? Hell, Summit used to sell um.

havent looked into them yet, as running this thing is still a long way away.

Be careful... I believe (with one conformation) that many places resell one manufacturers products. Case in point... hose clamps for 67 273 from Dales Cuda shop are sold by Classic Ind, they don't even change the sticker on the package but you would not know that from their catalog.

My experience whether its buildings or automobiles is pretty much all reproductions miss in some manner or another.
But FWIW the '67 main fuel line is slightly different than the '68. Took me three tries to get one that fit corrct. Would not be surprising to find other differences between '67 and the '68 cars.

Interesting about the fuel line 67 to 68 and I agree, 67 is a redheaded step child in many ways but still the coolest of the Darts
