Hey guys I just set my motor and tranny (318 - A904) in my car last night 74 Duster. We have installed the QA1 K-member to swap from a slant 6 to 318.

Yesterday I ran down to my local Mopar wrecking yard and picked up a set up brackets for a 67-72 SB. Once I set the motor in things aren't lining up. I have the mounts on and lined up to the k member, but it seems to be way to close on the drivers side. It was late so I hadn't messed with it much last night.

My question is can someone post a pic of the mounts and which side is which so I can compare them when I get home. I will lift the motor and snap a pick as well. I should have done it before I installed them. I want to make sure that I got the right mounts and that I have them on correctly.

I attached a pic from another post and I think mine look like these.

Here are some pics. It does look like the drivers side mount is just like the one I posted in the Original post. Can someone confirm what mount that is?

The one in the top picture the right one is the drivers side and the left one is passenger. Do you have them reversed? That looks to be the problem. Again the one with the ear missing is the driver side and the one with 4 holes goes on the passenger side

Nope that’s how I have them already. Should the actual mount be offset of should the post be in the middle on the mount or offset. The ones I have in now are centered on the bracket side, but the k member side is offset. The passenger side is on the lower side and the drivers is at the upper side I believe

So the one missing the ear is a sb mount? I was worried it was a 340 mount.

sometimes one encounters a problem with the PASSENGER side mount. The 67-72 A body bracket and the 66-72 B body brackets look very similar except that the rubber pad mounting bolts are offset on the opposite side. If you try to put a b/e body passenger side mount on a 67-72 A body, strange stuff will happen.

Thanks, I will pull them tomorrow and get some pictures and we will see what we have I guess.

CB is correct. Using Photoshop to do a side by side comparison of the OP passenger mount pic and the one from the EBAY auction, you can see the offset is on the other side. The OP picture is probably a B/E mount bracket

Well, I will pull the mounts today and get some 100% pictures, Now I am seeing what the main issue is. The passenger side should have the mount perch holes on the other side of where mine currently are. Thanks for some visual references, I am learning the hard way of the array of Chrysler parts that are hard to find and alot of non interchangeable parts. Ha Ha Ha

By the way if I remember correctly the b/e mount is slightly taller also, just in case you might think of redrilling it. DON'T!

Fortunately it is a very common mount since it came on all 67-72 273 318 340 and 360 Passenger side A bodies.

I usually have several of that mount laying around the shop, but I'm out right now.

Ok moment of truth. These are the brackets I have. In the picture the right one is what was on the drivers side and the left on the passenger side. I have the mounts in the picture as well in case they are not correct as well.

Sorry for the multiple messages, I'm super excited to get this car going. I may have figured out the issue, if the brackets are correct I think we may or may not have had the mount on the passenger side flipped. It looked like the holes were the same size, but after a closer look I can see that the bolt was going through smaller hole not the larger one. :BangHead:

Ok the mounts look correct as well as the offsets on the holes. The one with the missing ear is the DRIVER side. Your "L" and "R" are correct being the "L" is the driver side. Did you have them on the wrong sides?
Look at the 340 mounts on the ebay auction to see how the rubber pads go on

I’m about to put them back on but I think the actual rubber mount was wrong, I found a pic that had the mounts on too and that’s what got me leaning towards that.

Would it hurt to run a little thicker mount to help clear the steering box? Right now the drivers side is practically sitting on the steering box or should we try prying the motor over a little to clear?

Make or buy a shim to go between the biscuit and K-frame

As you mention, you can move the engine a little side to side as well.
