Passing Tech Inspection with your classic car

Never could understand how long pants ( unless they are Nomex ). are going to help if youcrash and catch fire .
I agree. Unless it's like a really small fire a good layer of denim is better protection than nothing.

All, I created a new video and replaced the old one. Thanks for pointing out some things I failed to mention.

Yeah, drive shaft hoop must be with in 6 inches of tail shaft.

I wasn't gonna bother with all the tech that goes into cars faster than 11.5 beacuse if you need to learn that here you are in a bad way. Your car builder should already know the rules for your class and if your building it your self you better buy the book and study it.....

Not the tail shaft, front universal joint eye. 11.5 down to 10 flat isn't too big of deal, mainly the cage. 9.99 or quicker is a bigger deal.

Thanks for a great thread 318, and man o man it can sure be subjective on rule enforcement. Ours is open lugs and they like width of nut exposed thread. Also on drive shaft loop it has to be within X inches of coupling. I think 6 but I may be lieing? I just don't remember, all I know is mine passes! And while your factory seat belts are perfectly acceptable, if you have changed them to harness style you have to comply to the two year nonsense. I understand that on the 11.5 and under but don't understand it on the 11.5 and up. Some inspectors do some don't on harness MGG date.
This is true, track to track - inspector to inspector. I've politely informed a couple of "fill in" inspectors what the rules "state". I know the track can in force their own rules as well, but they better do it to every car. In the end, they need entries to make money, so usually they look for reasons to pass a car instead of deny it.

The thing I really shake my head at is the guys you see pulling on nylon sweat pants over their shorts before getting in the car. My mother was a nurse and the worst thing she ever had to do was pick melted plastic out of a burn. The guys nylon shirt He was burned over most of his torso. So cotton pants in the car for me. That being said my wife was walking by me once and I had one of those butane lighters with the long tube. So just to get a rise out of her I click it and very quickly touch her butt.........FLASH! Her jeans had gotten a bit fuzzy, well they aren’t any more! Was only on fire for millisecond, not even enough to generate any heat, but according to her I doused her in fuel and threw a match! :)
