Aussie VC 67 Dodge ute

I always keep a battery minder on mine, prolongs battery life....slow charge, then holds at 12.4 volts...the main battery in the wife's car lasted 7 years, the audio battery bank is now 12 years old and going strong!

The next project for my Dodge ute is a full fiberglass hood with built in low line scoop, this is the first time I’ve made a hood but it’s only applying the techniques I know to a different application. The scoop itself is made from castings of a 1962 Valiant hood for the sides & from the 1967 hood for the centre. So here goes!

Another small update this week….the Quik-Latches finally arrived last week, of course I had a car show to go to on the weekend! I did get one day in on the install….at this stage they are surface mounted but think I’ll flush mount instead….a little more paint applied also!

Bloody hell Marty a true craftsman. So inspired with your work.

Finally some action on the mould fabrication….with it having been so hot in Canberra for the past few weeks I’ve been unable to lay fiberglass.…vinyl ester resin cures far faster than polyester even when using slow reaction catalyst….temps have been low enough to get the exterior part of the mould made, with luck the coming week or two will see the other half made….

agreed, it was just to have something there, the sign writer is drawing it up now...the bumble be stripe over the rear has "Dodge" cut in, in Hemi head font as used by Chrysler in the 60's...he is using similar font for the hood stripe...we are doing a test graphics that I'll post once fitted...thought I may have gotten more comments on this...lol

Well, with work, car shows, people finding me things to do for them in my “spear time” the hood has taken a while…but there has been progress!!

The test bonnet now has been filled with the expanding urethane foam, won’t do that on the bonnet I’m going to use! Cover plates for the gas struts and quick latches made and fitted, along with the molding….ready for fitting to the ute!
