When deciding on a color for my new small block going into my Dart, I knew I didn't want the factory standard of blue (car is already B5 blue) and didn't want hemi orange either. I was going to originally go with silver, since it would compliment my color scheme of blue, white, and chrome good. But then I was shown a VHT engine enamel color of Titanium Silver Blue....

It's not the greatest lighting, and this is only the second coat, but it'll look beautiful with my wrinkle black valve covers and aluminum intake. Anybody got an unusual engine color? Post them up!

My '69 Dart is currently being painted Viper red. Like you, I didn't want to paint the engine the stock '69 turquoise blue and I feel that Hemi orange will wash out against the bright red.
When the 340 in my first '69 Dart was built for some stout street use, I used a darker blue and really liked the way it looked against the stock R4 red. I used the same color blue when I built an engine for my '83 Hurst Olds and it also looked good in the black engine bay of my Olds.
So my current '69 Dart is going to have the same blue - let's just call it a "custom-mixed" blue - on the 360. I believe it will 'pop' against the Viper red. I have a pair of polished aluminum Magnum valve covers with the area between the fins powder coated the same blue (thanks Leanna!). Leanna also did a great job powdercoating the intake.
I also still have the polished Cal Custom valve covers from my long-gone '69 Dart 340 Swinger that are painted black between the fins, and a brand new set of gold-anodized Moroso valve covers. I'll be able to change the look of the engine at any time.

Hay, it's your dough, hard work and time. Paint it what you like. If that's pink with purple polka dots, more power to you. lol

I think the silver looks pretty good. Gives it kinda an "industrial" flair.

'67 Olds W43. 700HP! .....Man, what happened.......? Ooh, nice metallic blue!

Those valve covers sure do pop ocdart! I'll eventually have to have Leanna do some up when I get some I really like. It'll look good against the red!

Look at that Olds engine! That is sweet.

That's the thing I like about cars... Unless you're going for OE, pick up any for you dang well please and get to it. You get so much variety that way.

My buddy brought me some VHT silver paint to paint his TH350 I just did for him and it as actually Pontiac silver blue and It turned out really nice I liked the color.

When I restored my 69 Barracuda a few years ago for the second time (had it almost 30 years). I painted the engine Gloss black and used stainless steel bolts everywhere. I never did like the 69 turquoise in an F8 green engine bay.

So I typically am a “if it’s blue from the factory then blue it is.” Kinda guy.
But with my silver and red 1966 barracuda I did the blue engine only because the factory red engine would look like I tried too hard to match the interior/ stripe.
The engine I reinstalled is a 74’ 318 so I kept the blue and the difference in color actually looks better than the red engine did. Orange would had looked like a$$. IMO.
It’s your car- your money and until the political left takes them away “for the greater good of humanity.” Enjoy them and drive them like you stole them.

But black is a Chebby target motor color.

Next step is just buy a Nova and be done with it. Lol!

Pontiac silver blue is a really nice color. My "ex" and I ordered our first new car, a '74 Trans Am, several months before they actually were released to the dealers. It was Buccaneer Red and that silver blue engine looked really nice against the black engine bay and the bright red exterior.
Glad I got rid of the "ex" but sure wish I still had that Trans Am.

Especially if they’re API rounds.
I know it won't lol iv shot ap rounds and it went clean thru a Volkswagen block and all we centered it up with the vw in the grill and it came out the engine in the rear.
