So the story starts with a trip to my machinists to fix my screw up. There is a fella inside that seen my ‘73 Cuda window decal and starts talking about not being able to get rid of a K frame even for free. Well, since he was talking about a “A” body K frame that was motor mount less and modified for a deep pan, I was game. Free? YUP! Free. Lower control arms, struts, steering linkages, yea man!

He refused money out right, wouldn’t take it. He then asks me what engine I’m running.
“A 400” I say.
Him - Need headers?
ME - sure could use a set.
Him - Come here!” Goes into his shed, makes a bunch of racket, says to me,
“Here! Hold this!” And digs out another header.
Him - “Promise me one thing! Don’t sell them.”
Me - “No problem! Swear!”

So I get home, pick up the phone and text a member here and say, “Do you need headers for your sons project car still?”
Scott, a FABO member - “Yea! Why?”
So I sent him a picture saying, “Come get these! Free! No worries, just come and get’em!” “Needs a small weld.”

So now his 17 YO (Who WELDS and WORKS on the car) has headers for his big block Dart.
And the young gun totally digs MoPars!
Keep up the good work “Bren!”

Oh, it’s not that Dominator is small, Bren is freakin big. For surely over 6 feet tall.

Rob, I don't care what they say about you, you are top drawer in my book. Your generosity will come back to you many times over.

LOL, thanks. I figure a 17 YO even with Dads backing (but not really dads wallet) could use a little help. I know these things retail for A LOT of money. These just need a small weld or replace a tube off the flange. Which is the route there taking.

I’ll tell ya this. He is going to have the most bad *** high school car in the entire parking lot!

You're ruining the bad name we Islanders have ,one gesture at a time.

Then I’ll soil yours! LMAO!!!

Thanks for your donation to me on the balancer!
Mr. 68cuda408 Graciously donated a balancer to my efforts! He excepted and turn down monies for his trouble of actually dropping it off to me at my house! Oh! Pictures do not do it this man’s car justice! In anyway shape or form.
It was great hooking up with him! We hung out and chatted for hours. Looking forward to the next meeting!

another star in your crown

I’ll have to side step that one to God and his wondrous glory and the teaching of my parents.

So I’ll say “Thanks on behalf of the above mentioned, I hope we pass the audition.”
(Part of a Beatles quote. After the roof top concert when they played “Get Back.”)

Yeeeaaa buddy , rob hooked my son bren up , for the record he turned 16 in march he's 6ft 2 about 215 ..... he's an expensive dinner date lol .... rob has always been great w bren n when I told bren he had something for him immediately it was ... we're goin tonight to meet up w him right... , I couldn't appreciate rumbles kindness any more he's a true gear head and a STAND UP GUY... many times helping us out. My sons had his car a 67 2door post 273 a/c California car 2 yrs now . And it's come quite a ways and lol he's been driving it since 14 . Unfortunately the project stalled mid mini tub after I lost my best friend of 30 plus yrs in December ,and a breakup with my girl whom I've been with 11 yrs living w the last 7 yrs , all while in the mist of changing careers ... There was a good 3 months the car sat up on jackstands w zero progress , mostly because I was heavily depressed and just couldn't get any motivation . Right after 4th july my son bren n I got the ball rolling and took back to building his car , bonding , and my 16 yr old son helped me get back on my feet , back in the gym , back into focusing on my career and most IMportantly back to doing our thing building and hotrodding the dart to the way my son, a die hard mopar kid wants it to be . When rumblefish hit me up I was prepared to tell him I couldn't afford them for a few more weeks and he explained how he got them and how he wanted my son to have them ... FOR FREE!!!both bren n I are truely grateful . My son goes into 11 grade this September , excellent student, varsity football lineman offense and defense , and a really polite well mannered kid , works side jobs with me and works on his car with enthusiasm. Taking welding in boces in high school starting this September as well . Guys like rob really made my son a gear head a mopar fan and enthusiast .. thanks rob he can't wait to drive over and show u his car .... see u soon w the big block in I'm sure he's gona wanna take u for a ride !

I`d like to see a pic of the k/frame .
I am thinking about doing the ss/ahr thing to my 68 form S k/frame , and maybe reinstalling in my 68 fastback , trying to get a little better ride than the aftermarket under it now.

thats awesome.. there was a time when as a kid just getting in to the hobby that the oldheads would help us young guys out. then mopars got popular and the checkbook clowns got involved and ruined most of that for the young guys today. glad to see its still alive in places..

Coming right up after coffee.
The K was modified for a RB/drag pan.

Just a thought..... Next time you see your machinist ask if he needs any A body stuff thrown his way. Sure would make FABO look good, not that is isn't already.

Great way to support the hobby!
Love it!
A proud father im sure. Makes for a son with great pride!
Another reason why i cant get enough of this forum.
