poly 318

LA 318 flywheel or flex plate and any small block transmission except 67 and back 273 flywheel or automatic with the small hub. Although you could use the automatic with the bushing that is used for slant sixes for late engine to early automatic trans.

FWIW, a 4" small block stroker crank with 318 mains drops right in. lol

Have one here that I haven't been able to give away.
yeah not a desired engine by any means. If you were closer, I’d take it off your hands.
Can anyone tell me what a 64 poly engine will use for a bell, flywheel, and what trans will bolt up??
Pretty much any small block Mopar bells. On some bells, there is one bolt hole that is off slightly but it’s easily fixed.

For the flywheel you’ll want any old 318 LA or other factory internally balanced flywheel. Same 833 4 speeds bolt up, personally, I prefer the 727pb behind the polys.

The 62 Dart has the pedals already but a wasted slant, and I prefer shifting gears, not a racer for sure. Did find a running poly dry stored today worth the $ and also a B body A833 for good $. I did find a 383 and 440 put I have a SB bell and a BB bell will cost a couple hundred $ or so. I had a poly in a 64 10-15 years ago and I enjoyed it. Cool engines.
I admit I rather have a 383 over a 440, but looks like a trip to La for the poly. Yes, I talk coon-***.

The old poly can be fun. Have one in my Satellite. Here is my current configuration, other than the headers that I still have to get fitted at the exhaust shop.

List it for sale in that offshoot ‘Chrysler Power’ magazine. That magazine focused a few issues on the 4” poly build. I didn’t expect the magazine to last, but it has a following.
That mag has existed for some 20 years or so. The guy that basically did it passed away this past year. They were the gurus for carrying the torch for the poly.

Poly? Someone mention Poly? Love those crazy things. (have never owned one though) One day I hope to own a early B body with a Poly.

Those guys at Chrysler Power develped some new parts heads 4 bbl intake, NOT cheap but.. not sure where it is all at now Roland passed. Oem 4 bbl itake are out there but not cheap either.
The LA engine came along with a thinner casting and cheap to build. The poly had a lot of potential, but the B motor (350,361) was already there and then along came the 413, then the 426, and then the 426 Hemi. I poly disappeared about what 66??

Yes, 66 was the last year for the Poly...

The LA 318 started in 67...
