Fed Ex gave me the run-around for a couple of days, but I finally got my engine! This should absolutely rock my 68 Dart.

Awesome looks great. That was first thing I did with my blueprint engine a decade ago was paint it orange.

If you call me direct we will paint them orange here!!! Lol

That is sweet!! I am jealous! Looks great.
Just curious is there a reason why you didnt paint the heads too? Will paint not stick to aluminum heads or do you just prefer the look?

Thanks for the supportive replies. Yes, this is the 445 hp rated 408. From what I understand 445 hp is the minimum targeted HP rating, so any engine that meets or exceeds that gets shipped. I'm a painter by trade, so I kinda had to change the color myself. You can easily run into adhesion problems painting aluminum, so the heads stay as is. Besides, they're just so pretty! I'll probably swap out the timing cover to accommodate the early style water pump (my original 68 radiator is in mint condition), and maybe my 273 Commando valve covers for the old school look. Of course, frame connectors will be a mandatory upgrade as well as disc brakes up front. I have a bunch of small block 340 and 318 parts to sell off to raise money for those upgrades, including a set of 340 X heads, forged 340 crank, and other various parts and pieces.

Congrats. That is the engine that is in my 69 Dart. It's kickass fun.

Just out of curiosity, what carb are you running on it?

Talked with @polarman on the phone today! Cool guy! Looking forward to seeing the finished product!!

A carter style Edelbrock 1407. I have the old double pumper that was originally on the engine when my buddy built it for a back-up, but I'm not a fan of them and their leaky fuel bowls and the gas all over the intake when you want to change things.

Mine actually ate my dipstick, but it had the kevco pan and miss the hole in the baffle. Snap!
