Though it gets mentioned countless times, these Slant engines are almost built tough as stock to accept a Blower or Turbo application.

I would like to go a clean Supercharger set up with my 225 Slant 64 Dart 4 speed and hopefully will hit the magic (for me) 300 hp numbers I desire. I have seen enough Early 63-66 Slant powered Darts to know this can be done. And really would like if this Supercharge Slant thread lived on its own. So we who are interested can start to dream, acquire, research, build and drive.

First of all thanks to Torqstorm for coming up with a "bolt-in" kit for Slants. Good Marketing too. Sadly It wont fit my 64 Dart engine compartment, unless I modify the core support and hood latch and fan and more...so I will have to go custom. That's okay, I'll live.

What I am looking for here is different street worthy combinations, utilizing EFI, Two Barrel Carbs or unique intakes like Gill Welding provides and find out how the install, parts lists and finally tuning and road manners went?

Are you with me guys and gals?

I have had mpfi on the 68 Barracuda Slant Six for a couple of years. Took the car down for a complete rebuild this past winter.
I am getting close to having it back together.
Using a ported GM Vortec TB on a Clifford Intake that I machined the nitrous bosses on to accept fuel injectors. I also machined the fuel rail from rail stock. Has a MS 3 Pro ecu controlling fuel and ignition. Near term plan includes setting up to run on e85. Longer term plan is to mount a Eaton M90 to the engine.

Very Cool! I still second guess if I should have gone MS on mine, the FiTech has worked great so far. just wasn't sure I could pull off the MS.
maybe some day. would love to know more about your setup. do you have a build on here?

Dang I wish the slants had a 7 main bearing lower end. I am suprised more guys don't dump the basement out of them with only 4 mains.

IDKFS but I think the stability comes from the large diameter mains and bearings. I had read that the mains are the same diameter as a 440.

The MS has been good, I had one issue with RF interference and had to add shielding / reroute wires and that was resolved.
What I like about MS is the ability to support MPFI and you pick and choose your own hardware. I have had this system for maybe 5 years now, even the throttle body FiTech was not as common back then as it is now.
And I see that now FiTech has a universal MPFI kit. I am sure they are all good.
What is impressive about the MS stuff, and I am speaking of the MS 3 Pro is that it is much more than just an ignition - fuel controller.
It can be the controller for: cooling fans, traction control, delay box, and the list goes on and on.

Impressive body of work there my68barracuda. I am guessing MS =Mega Squirt ?

I have been in conversation with a guy who has put down some impressive performance with a Supercharged Slant. I am guessing that all the ground work you are doing will lead to amazing numbers and reliability as well.

Hey "Ill". Im not sure what might be different but it was Uncle Tony (who like me has a 64 Dart) that mentioned there was a lot a fabricating involved with the Torqstorm on our particular cars. He mentioned fan space and core support I believe. Which leads me to believe that your car is different? I don't want to hack that area up too much. Im hoping for near bolt on application once I have a supercharge bracket built. Oh yeah, then the tuning, more tuning, more tuning.

Friend's Dart uses a Paxton Novi 2000 blower, and a Holley Sniper with success.

I WISH I could remember where I read that the four mains were somehow an advantage. It made sense too. I cannot remember for the LIFE of me where I saw it. I think it was also talking about how stout the block was whether aluminum or cast iron. I just cannot remember where I saw it.

That said, let me pose this question. How many slant six basements have you seen dumped? I've seen a couple of them with thrown rods. One was still running, but I've never seen one with the crank blown out of the bottom due to broken mains. Have you?

Ok. I'll buy that. SO there's ONE......at least. But I have to wonder "what other engine" "ALL THAT" wouldda destroyed too? It wasn't just enough to kill a slant. That wouldda killed a lot of stuff, dontchya think?

My fabrication was taking the hood support out and putting a fan in front of the radiator. The hood support is not completely gone but cooling fan had to fit in front. The stock fan would not fit with torqstorm pulley added.

It just looks like a weak link. I have some friends that run Rat motors on 60# of boost in 2 wheel drive pull trucks. The 7 main straight 6's are much stronger and can tolerate the pressure. Most boosted engines can't handle the piston dome and cylinder bore pressure. The cranks will hold up although they do pound bearings out.
