1965 Dodge Dart Charger convertible

-
Ulf. The Dart Charger stayed home. Maybe next year. Thanks. Jerry
Hope to be there that time to watch it out!
I did some great progress tonight. Added the power brake booster with the right gaskets, the radiator and condensor showed up so that was added as well as the accelerator stuff on the inside of the fire wall. However the plate that mounts on the outside(engine cpmpartment) is missing! Not sure where I put it so if some one have one for sale I would be real happy.

Ulf. I am sure you know this, referring to sliding your engine in using your dolly......I had my alternator on in my first attempt.....had to take it off to clear the frame-rails. Looks like your getting close to sliding the power plant in. Looks great. sgrip65

Did you order another correct positive and negative battery cable for this convertible? I will be using my set on the SD (sedan delivery) - formerly a wagon!

I will slide it in next week!

I had the negative cable and the positive I bought from a FABO member. Great stuff. I will later order a set from M&H since their cables was top notch.

Any idea if they are the same for a 66 a-body with a 273? My dad’s car needs a set...

If not the same, then I suspect close in appearance and length. The part numbers for each year should help. If I get a chance today I will look in the 65 parts manual. Maybe someone has the 66 manual with the battery cable parts number - @toolmanmike maybe

Ulf...any pics of the battery cables? Nice work as always...love your threads

My cables are not installed yet. I will get some pics later today.

Haven't been able to find a 66 part number yet.

OK here’s pics of my positive and negative cables I bought from M & H (yes, they sell battery cables direct and not through Year One or any other vendor!). When I received them I checked the positive cable against the OEM one in a 65 Dart 273/235 I parted out. Other than the clamp-the-wires to the universal battery terminal , it was identical in length, terminals, color, etc. i seem to remember Ulf bought a second cable set from me that he used in his award-winning 65 DartCharger hardtop.

Them are really nice...can I ask how much they set you back? Thanks for the pictures, I might need to order a couple sets

IIRC $159 for the positive cable and 29 or so for the negative cable plus shipping. In talking with M & H, they pull the original blueprints for both cables so they are made to original specs. I have the feeling they can make the cables for a number of years for V8’s. Unsure about slant-equipped - never inquired about them

Today I added some extra parts before the assembly takes place. My buddy Johan will show up and help me out. I love progress!

Tell Johan Hi from me!
He said hi too and is looking forward to see you here in Sweden next year.
Today we raised the body and rolled the front end/engine and tranny combo under the car. After we lowered the body and were finally able to add the 8 bolts and finally it was there.
Did some adding of wires and cables. This is without a daubt the easiest way to install it without any damages on the body + you can adjust and route most of the hoses and wires very easy.
Thanks Johan, I really appriciated your help!

Ulf. Not so long ago for me on mine. I agree, an easy way to install the engine and transmission without damage to body and paint. Ss well, one does not have to fight the upper transmission bell-housing bolts. Those bolts are a tough install while installing the engine first and transmission after. Nice work. sgrip65

Thanks Jerry!

Found the old Mopar Collectors Guide from September 2003. At that time he owned my both Dartchargers. Anyone knows Joe Sousa from Turlock in California? I would like to get hold of this guy rounding up more information.

Ulf, can you post or send a close up of the Mopar Collector’s Guide article? Does it provide any additional info on Joe Sousa (like job?) I live in the area, and might be able to help track him down. Relatively small town, but Sousa is a common name around here—it’ll probably just take asking the right people.
