Hey guys I have a 68 valiant with a 8 1/4 rear end disk in the front drum in the back. I’m looking at a set of 14x7 wheels with 4” backspacing with 195/70/r14 tires on them. Will they fit??

Kind of a narrow tire for a 7" wide wheel. Are you still 5x4" bolt pattern? Is the 8-1/4 original, I didn't think they had them in 68?

Tell us more about your car.

4.5 not sure what the rear is I’m assuming it’s a body lol. I just bought it. It has an unknown disk conversion in the front as well.

7" wide rims, Zero offset, and BBP conversion typically don't play well together. Some 14" rims wont clear BBP conversions either. If the conversion was done with stock parts the front track has widened. The rear may have as well, I'm not familiar with all the different 8-1/4s that were made. So you might do some measuring to see how well it will clear everything.

It would help to identify your disk brake conversion and the width of the rear axle.

Since neither of those parts is original to your car, we really can’t give you a good recommendation. If you have A-body parts then those wheels should fit, but if you don’t then who knows? Could be an 8 1/4 out of an F body. Or a Dakota. Hard to say without measurements or pictures.

All true. I’ll have to take some WMS measurements. The front currently has a 14in steely on it. I will take a picture of the front brakes and the number on the dif and see if that helps. Sorry for the bogus post.

Here is the numbers on the rear not sure if it helps.

No worries, it's not a bogus post. It just helps to narrow things down a bit so you actually get useful information. There are a bunch of different brake conversions out there, and they all change the track width by different amounts.

Also, a 195/70/14 isn't recommended for a 7" wide rim. Widest manufacturer recommendation for those is a 14x6.5". It's also a short tire at only 24.8". I'd be looking for a 205/70/14 at least, I know that probably changes your tire availability though.

I wish that meant something to me, but it doesn't. An A-body 8 1/4 is about 51.5" flange to flange, or ~56.75" WMS to WMS.

One thing that helps is a "Mock-Up".
Take a look at the wheels on it now and see how much clearance you have around everything...THEN imagine it with a larger diameter, a greater or lesser offset, more width, etc.
If you have 4 inches from the tire to the leaf springs, you can figure that 3 inches of additional width can be fitted with an inch of clearance remaining. Same goes to the outer body. The rear is easy though...It merely goes up and down and does not steer.
For the front, do a full inspection of the clearance around the tires and rim edges with the tires facing straight ahead as well as full left and full right. It is MORE critical to get it right at the front because of the greater amount of obstacles to keep clear of: Tie rod end, front sway bar, front and rear edges of fenders as well.
ALL 8 1/4" axles were built using the 4.5 bolt circle BUT you have to measure yours. I just bought another 1970 Charger with an 8 1/4" axle. I can move the spring perches on it to use in an A-body but it is 3 inches wider than a stock Valiant axle.

No comment, huh?
People take the time to help and you disappear like you owed us money ??

Find a friend that may have a spare wheel , tire or no tire on it , make sure of it width and backspace. Then try fitting it and go from there. It will give you a lot of info on what will and will not fit.
