Weight loss and perseverance

Amazing! Super great job! I can't believe the neck difference, I never thought about the neck that much in weight loss.

Between my face, neck, forearms and lower legs about 1/3 of my total weight loss so far has come from those places. Since they are all about as small as they will go, the rest of my body will now shrink about 30% more now with each lb lost since those places aren’t losing any more fat now.

This illustrates how fast things are changing now. Same size shirt, just different colors with only a 12 lb weight loss between the pics. You can see how the red shirt just hangs on me now.

First of the Month and my new weight is 257 lbs making it now 58 lbs lost.

Since I was on vacation for the past 2 weeks being very active fishing and crabbing, I think I gained some muscle and lost more fat than the scale shows since I lost another inch off my waist.

Only 2 more inches and it will be time for a new belt again!

Oh, and for anyone following along...I have lost 20 lbs since I started this thread just 7 months ago. :D

And still going!

Next goal is to cross into weighing less than 250 lbs...and fitting into the next size smaller pants and shirts hanging in my closet...plus buying a new belt!

Awesome, keep it going. I am going to be 51 in a couple months. About 6 weeks ago I got back from a nice vacation trip w my son. I looked at pix of me at the beach and went holy ****, I am pushing maximum density. I was 245 lbs. I am now 225 lbs 5 weeks later. I do a modified keto diet as i call it.

You cant completely cut carbs. I feel its unrealistic. However, I try to keep em to about 25-30 grams a day which in itself is kinda hard to do. I also use the low 5 net gram carb tortillas for making pizza, or for wrapping a beef hot dog. I get the Quest brand low carb cookies as snacks along with almonds, and pork rinds. The cookies aren't cheap. 4 to a box for about $7.50 at Walmart. But are 22G of protein, only 1G of sugar, and 4G net carbs. I eat 1 of these a day at 3pm break as a snack. The protein keeps me full. Cant beat a big choc chip or peanut butter cookie for a snack lol. They are a little dry, but you get used to em after awhile.

Wife has been buying me michelob ultra. Only 2.6G of carbs. Still get a little buzz too lol. She knows I love pizza, but i also load it up with meat, mushrooms, and jalapenos. This Friday she bought cauliflower dough pizza crusts for me to make pizzas. According to the box 1/3 [of the pizza crust is 5G of net carbs. Damn that's doable. Will have to doll one up and cook it. Report back here w my findings. I heard that you cant taste any difference compared to regular pizza dough.

I drink a lot of water thru the day, and add the mio squirt in flavorings that have electrolytes since I work in the heat. I also drink the premier protein shakes. The chocolate has only 2G net carbs 30G protein. Friday night is my dinner date night out with my wife. I eat what I want that one meal a week. I find myself looking for better menu choices even on date night. I feel I am on the right path. My weight loss goal, when I get to 200 lbs I will be buying myself a new pair of Tecovas Ropers. Ultimately I need to be at 180-185 lbs. At least that's what my doctor tells me.

I also use a freeware app on my android called myplate. I input everything I eat or drink. It's like a video game to me. Sometimes I can scan the barcode on a food or drink and it loads the info that way. That app helps me to keep with it as I record each new weight and track what I am eating at each meal or snack.

1st off, great job Ddaddy! I started my journey for all of the same reasons. The main contributor to my fatness was the beer, pizza, and mexican food.....did I mention beer? Lol. I chose to go the ketogenic route for my weight loss adventure.

I started this whole new way of eating on 6/27/16 at 282 lbs. On 7/30/16 I weighed in at 258 lbs. I was hooked after those kind of results. Not to mention that the food you can eat is almost all savory and delicious. Today, almost 3 yrs later I'm at 185lbs, and I've kept it off by eating a low carb maintenance diet.

I wish you continued success, and I love the fact you were able to keep booze on your meal plan. I had to obstain completely for 2 yrs :( !
Low carb beer man. Michelob ultra. 2.6G of carbs. The key is counting the carbs not the calories. If you count the carbs and keep em low, the calories will follow.

My only problem with Ultra, is it tastes like vinager! I'll always be an IPA guy, and those don't help with a diet!

Good for you guys keeping on top of your weight loss!

I call this pizza "Texas trash". My Texas version of east coast "Garbage pie". Just finished dolling it up, getting ready to go in the oven on a cauliflower crust. Having this tonight with a Michelob ultra. Never had cauliflower crust, gonna give it a go.

Chopped Bacon
Diced Pepperoni
Diced Ham
Diced Mushrooms
Diced Jalapenos
Diced Tomato slices

Didnt have tomato slices tonight oh well.

Another motivational victory today! Back at the beginning of February, excited about fitting into smaller pants, I wrote...

...I promptly bought a half dozen dress shirts 3 sizes smaller than I am now and hung them in the closet to inspire me to fit into them eventually too. :)

Well today, after having lost 20 lbs since then...they fit!

Woohoo!

And the pants I’m wearing are 4” smaller waist than the ones I was excited about fitting into back then too. :)

This shows how different I look in casual business clothes now after losing nearly 60 lbs from where I was 2 years ago.

Congrats .. I know it's a *****
Thanks! The truth is, it really hasn’t been that hard to do.

All I did was cut 300 calories per day out of what I normally eat. Everything is still on the menu including pizza, pasta and my favorite beer. I just eat a little less of them than I used to.

I like to say my mantra is “Eat what you want, just take 2 bites less when you eat it.”

300 calories less over the course of the day is just a small change and I have found it easy to incorporate into my lifestyle.

The hard part for me has always been being patient and waiting for the results that eventually come. That’s why I constantly remind myself of what was and what is now. Sometimes it’s hard to see when just looking at now.

Ok, here’s some fun (for me anyway).

I was rummaging around in the closets looking to purge old clothes that don’t fit anymore and came across an LL Bean fleece jacket that I bought back in 1993 and always liked, but long since grew out of.

Holy crap! It fits! Woohoo!

Well, it’s halfway through the month and I have lost another lb. I think I lost more fat than what the weight shows since I have been building some muscle along the way.

The reason I say this is while I’ve only lost 1 lb in weight, I have lost another inch off my waist since the beginning of the month.

I saw my Doc yesterday for my quarterly well visit. All of my vitals and labs are right down the middle as they should be. He kept saying how great I looked and how impressed he was with my weight loss over the last 2 years.

We finished the check-up in 5 minutes and then spent the next 20 minutes talking about what I was doing for the weight loss and going over his records and mine. He was fascinated by how easy and effective it all has been...and how easy it is to incorporate into lifestyle.

In the end, he sent me an email after the visit asking me if I would be willing to do a short seminar for a bunch of his patients who are struggling with trying to lose weight. He thinks my approach could significantly help them out and give them a new perspective on how to lose weight and maintain it...without major sacrifice or diets that change their eating habits so much that they can’t stick to.

Hell yeah! I’m glad to help! :)

That's great news! Great that your weight loss will inspire others as it has us here on abodies!

Remember back on Aug 6th when I posted this?

Another surprise today. Remember how I said the weight loss was accelerating across my middle now?

I got new pants today since I have quickly shrunk out of the ones I bought back in the middle of June. They are the same brand and style but with a 2” smaller waist!

I only bought 2 pair of pants in this new size and another 2 pair that are 2” smaller than that. At this rate I will shrink out of both sizes and need to get new ones even smaller by Thanksgiving.

Well, Thanksgiving came early...I now fit into the smallest size. :)

48” waist in mid-June, 46” waist at the beginning of August...and today I am wearing the 44” waist pants. That’s now 12” smaller than when I started at 56”.

That’s 2” smaller every 6 weeks!

Damn, I gotta buy some more new pants now so I will have something that fits in November!

Woohoo!

So I told my wife I was wearing the new 44” pants and in typical wife fashion, she grinned and poked at me saying “Yeah, but do they really fit or are you just sucking in your gut to make it seem that way?”

I grinned back and said “I dunno, what do you think?” Then I stuffed both arms down inside the pants to show her that there was room to spare. She laughed out loud and took my picture.

Well today is the last official weigh-in day of the month and also the 2 year anniversary of starting this program to lose weight.

I now weigh 255 lbs and have lost 60 lbs.

Feels great!

My original plan was to lose 100 lbs to get down to 215 lbs. I have decided to extend that goal to lose 120 lbs and get to my ideal weight of 185 lbs.

I weighed 185 when I was playing football in high school and it seems to be a good target weight based on my frame size.

Hell, why not? I’ve come this far!
