I'm here
What have you turned in the 1/4 for E.T./MPH with your 5.2 magnums? I would like to hear about your build and what it ran. I would think with 4bbl, headers, and mild cam these would be quick in a A-body. Lot's of 5.9 builds posted all over this forum, but how about your 5.2?

Thanks

I have a 5.2 on the stand..... don't tell me it's up to me to throw something together and post.....

Hi, i put a 5.2 Mag together for a friend with low budget. Had two engines, one had a rusty bore due to water, the other one had some crank problems - so i made one out of two. Just reused all crank / rod bearings and piston rings, put a 5.9 Cam in it because the stock one was pitted badly. 5.9 cam was all i had at the moment.....heads are untouched, crosswind airgap copy, 625 street demon carb, msd streetfire ignition with stock mopar electronic distributor (modified to around 14° mechanical advance, 20° initial, 34°total without vacuum). Some cheap summit headers and magnaflow mufflers.

This thing is running totally smooth, he got a best 13.3 out of it with slicks (1970 4dr Valiant). 3.55 Gears afaik, stock 904 converter.

We´ll try to dip into the 12s, asked oregon cams about a mild hydraulic roller grind (#1341), if that works with stock parts i´ll do some porting this winter....for what we do have in it, it´s a nice runner and he´s having a lot of fun! There´s a lot of potential in it.

Deal. Just one week, though...….. :D

Calling again...... LOL... (is this a chivy site??) Must be more 5.2's that have made passes.... I mean read post 3 !!! 13.30's with stock heads and stock cam and stock converter!! (are there some 340's whimpering???) :D
Post 'em up! Must be more 5.2's dancing the 1320

Jaba and I had the 5.2 conversation on the phone the other day. With the roller cam, lighter rotating assembly, nice street compression, good flowing heads, better ring location, these seem like a sure win, yet very few are being raced. Mostly 5.9's are what we see, and I understand that. But I think post 3 proves some serious street potential on an extremely low budget. 13.3's... just think if they added a bump in cam (regrind) and EQ heads, PTC converter and we might have a low-mid 12 second/low budget 318. I'll be visiting my 5.2 on the stand... beings it's been there for a few years.. LOL

It would seem to me that the 5.2 might be a better choice for a manual trans car in that you don't need a special flywheel. Any neutral balance flywheel would work. Wonder how one would run with 340 type cam specs? Hmmm.

yeah, maybe next year I'll do the 318 mag, do it on the cheap, and put it in the place of the "low dollar" 318 and see how it compares...….

My wife has two 98 Durango's. Both teeners.. They are ear marked for retirement in a couple years. In the years to come I'll be needing a motor for the 41 Studebaker....:rolleyes:

that would be cool. I'm just shocked at the 5.2 availability and low cost, that there aren't more of these being raced. It really is a surprise to me. Sounds like a cheap way to build a bracket car?? Makes me want to do it all the more.....

I think because so many new guys to the game, have only heard 360. 360, 360,5.9, 5.9, 5.9..... and how someone always says , if ya buying just as will get the bigger cubes.....and how Joe bores the block .030 and has to recite the updated cubes as reference? Bigger ya know!

Well old Dependable didn't start for my wife. Looks like natural selection may be happening here for one of those Durangos.. That's strike two for today in the JPar camp...

That always makes me laugh at the 5.0 Ford guys. They never fail to call their .030 over 302 a 306. Makes me almost fall down in laughter. lol

I have a 5.2 sitting in my 01 dodge ram with 289k miles on it. If the rest of my car was ready we could throw it in there and see what it does. Lol

Putting 65 Dart/ vert 5.2 magnum 4spd convert back together.
I just finished paint on"Frankendart"

Saved this car from crusher.
Never again. Left frame rail, fabbed rear floor pans, moved springs to rails,
Left rear quarter skin surgery with patch to
Support fliptop cuda gas cap...etc.

8 3/4 3.91 742 clutch sure grip + frame supports.

We will see if car breaks apart....lol
Let you know on e.t

Should have totally assembled

got Feedback from Oregon cams, they are out of mag cam cores to regrind. So we decided to get a new core, little more money but i think i can keep the stock pushrods….will get the #1341 grind, it´s 218/224° on 110 LSA / .482" Lift with 1.6 Mag Rockers. I´ll put some effort into the heads, so i think this will do a little bit better next Season ;-)
