5.2 Magnum times ??

got Feedback from Oregon cams, they are out of mag cam cores to regrind. So we decided to get a new core, little more money but i think i can keep the stock pushrods….will get the #1341 grind, it´s 218/224° on 110 LSA / .482" Lift with 1.6 Mag Rockers. I´ll put some effort into the heads, so i think this will do a little bit better next Season ;-)

Michael
can I ask the price?

That always makes me laugh at the 5.0 Ford guys. They never fail to call their .030 over 302 a 306. Makes me almost fall down in laughter. lol
But one thing about Ford guys, they believe in their 302 Fox bodies, and get great results. Most mopar guys "snuff" at 5.2's, go figure.....

Putting 65 Dart/ vert 5.2 magnum 4spd convert back together.
I just finished paint on"Frankendart"

Saved this car from crusher.
Never again. Left frame rail, fabbed rear floor pans, moved springs to rails,
Left rear quarter skin surgery with patch to
Support fliptop cuda gas cap...etc.

8 3/4 3.91 742 clutch sure grip + frame supports.

We will see if car breaks apart....lol
Let you know on e.t

Should have totally assembled
10 /1

It's look'n great!

that would be cool. I'm just shocked at the 5.2 availability and low cost, that there aren't more of these being raced. It really is a surprise to me. Sounds like a cheap way to build a bracket car?? Makes me want to do it all the more.....

Let the word get out that the potential is there, and proof, people will start buying them up, there goes supply... And you know what that means? Price goes up.

Most mopar folks haven't believed in the 318 performance for 50 years, you think they'll gobble 'em up now??? LOL :D

True... I have nothing against the teener, I probably would have ended up with a 5.2 if it wasn't for tripping across the 360's I have. Although all in all, I would just about bet it would have cost the same to overhaul my 360, and get the various pieces I needed, as it would have been to get the 5.2 and just slap the intake on and la timing cover and pulleys, and the oil pan... You look around and you can pick up the 5.2 for next to nothing. I have seen free up to around $200 complete.

Nowdays it seems like a lot of those old Fox bodies get LS swaps.

So, i just got my Magnum in my brothers 1968 Barracuda 4 speed running and i got to say Dannnng its pretty quick stock camshaft i believe 250/264 .435lift duration? roller camshaft. Stock heads, 340 driver manny magnum passenger rpm air gap. i gotta say love how the intake design on this motor and rocker arm ratio. But dont think imma make that deadline of a week though lol, still need a exhaust done on the driverside and a gear swap.........

Heres a video of it idling before the choke let off, yes i know everything is a mess lol still need to dial in timing and fine tuning after a plug reading

Only car the motor was ever in( and is still in) was a white 71 Duster with black hood and 340 callout. My old car. I sold it as a completely sorted out street strip car 4 years ago to a local guy to me

You can read about the motor build by Googling.... “LA Confidential Mopar”

Edit..... motor looked yellow but when i got it, it was orange. It had a yellow tinge to it in the pictures, but was actually orange
It was painted before being dyno’ed, and then sat a while. I touched up the paint before installing it in the Duster

When I'm not mistaken Adney Brown entered it...

Correct.
Adney owns Performance crankshaft over in Detroit
Does some trick crank work. Including the 340 crank in this little motor. It was light. Motor hit the convertor quickly

NICE!!! Mid 11's with a pump gas 318. I also noticed the 950 Holley. I've always found the small block mopars like a lot of CFM's. Thanks for posting.

Guy named Randy Malik built that 950.
When i sold the car i had very recently had Patrick at Pro Systems build me a nice shiny 950. We used to work together years ago before he opened his carb shop.
Anyhow, when i sold the car, i kept the old 950 dyno carb( its on my current 360) and gave the new owner the shiny 950. Just couldn't make it ET as good.
Yes, bigger the carb the better on any dragstrip car i have ever had as far as small block Mopar.
Car was a tenth slower with a good 750 i tried on it

I had this same argument with a Ford and a Chevy guy they was talking smack about 318s. I said my my 318 16 cubes bigger than your 302 and only 9 cubes smaller than your beloved 327 tell me again why a 318 is trash?? With a bumb in compression and some good flowing heads my 318 will smoke em both.

I found that out back in 1985, with my street/strip no's match 340 '71 Cuda. Stock bottom end/2.02 heads, came with a 750DP when bought, had a .484 hyd/3500stall/3.55's, upgraded to a strip dom intake+2" spacer/4.30's/.590 purple sft/4200 stall/race hdrs and that 750DP, always thought there was more in it with a bigger carb so changed to a worked by me 850DP which gained me 1.8 tnths in the 1/4. I lent that carb to a guy running a 215ci buick motor (rover 3500cc V8) in his MK1 Ford Cortina stick race car and he went 2/10nths quicker with it over his 600, he couldn't believe it!!!.....got fed up with everyone telling me at the race track that my 750 was too big for my engine, think outside the box and formulas.
